Good article on why everyone either loves or hates the 6.5cr

It's an excellent cartridge. Probably the best all around short action cartridge there has been yet with all things considered. Argue all you want to make yourself feel better but weigh the pros and cons of the 6.5 Creedmoor compared to others and you'll see why I said what I said. You'll be dead and gone before the Creedmoor ever fades out.
Once again, It's a great round on paper, but the paper aint pulling the trigger

One thing I can say about the 6.5creedmoor, it has brought more new shooters into the precision rifle game in the last 13 years than any other cartridge.
While it is not in the precision rifle game, I know at least 4 in my office, 6 in my squadron, and at least 10 in another squadron just in the last year.

That's what guys used to say about wearing pink in the 80's lol.
I have a fluorescent pink polo shirt that I primarily wear for breast cancer awareness, no problem wearing. I personally do not what other people think. If they do not take the time to know me and my character, it is their loss. 🤣

Agreed! While it has limited application for my intended use at this time. It is an excellent cartridge, especially for a deer-sized game and smaller for the average hunters, young and old.

When you get down to it there's a lot of overlap with those rounds and a 308 win. I like all of them as they do different jobs well so all you really need is to prioritize the jobs. Lately I've been toying with the idea of a 7-08 and 180 gr boowits. Do you mind sharing any experiences/ loads? MP is fine to take it off the thread.
I am very happy with 7mm-08, I haven't used or needed heavy projectiles but if that's what you need and you have a suitable twist rate then give it a go.
Mine, a Tikka CTR went well with 140gn so factory ammo.
I have had good results to date.
I think the 7mm-08 is simply a better proposition for hunting than 6.5cm,
It's a great round in general not just on paper. I never brought up paper. I'm talking real world shooting and results.
If we could duplicate the exact shot on game with 7mm-08 and 6.5cm I'm still backing the 7-08.

I have real world results on pigs, I'm sure the 6.5 is capable bit under 500yards and on game the 7-08 hits harder.
No-one has any business taking hunting shots on game past 500, period.
