Favorite caliber for Long range shooting?

I use, 264, 7mm, 30, 33 & 37 currently. Here (Australia) we cannot use anything bigger than 8mm in our F-class rules and as of 2020 brakes were also banned. So I use 30 cal for that, 300WM has been my choice for a long time. For hunting, I use a 264WM with custom chamber, as well as 7STW, 300RUM, 338WM, 338-06, 338-416 Rigby Improved or 375-416 Rigby Improved. I also use 5 300WM rifles, but not all are for long range like my Kimber's, short mag boxes hinder seating out where the bullets need to be, I know I can modify them, but prefer not to.

Cheers.

Long range is relative to the rifle used. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the 22lr at longer distances. Challenging and far cheaper than their bigger center fire brothers. Good training for everything folks have mentioned previously.
Shot in ELR 22 LR. Match last July in south texas, stags from 50 yds to 750 yds! Match was won at 700 yds w 1 hit out of 10 shots

Seems like a lot of dudes are going with the 6s. I recently went to a mile long range in Florida and was humbled after having incredible difficulty past 800 yards with my 308 and 300 wm. The wind was the hardest part to judge. Do you just get better at wind calling over time? It's pretty frustrating

My 2 Favorites Now, are My, Semi Custom, Rem 700, Medium Heavy, 24" Criterion barreled ( Braked ) in, 6 XC with, 107 grain, SMK's and,..
my, 6.5 Creed., Tikka T-3X, 24 Inch bbl., also Braked, shooting, 130 gr. ELD-M's.
Will be Proofing "Verifying Loads", at Longer Ranges, later this Spring ( When the Wind slows down, a Bit ).
The Tikka ( 8.5 Lbs ) W/ 130 M's, shoots 5 Shots, into Sub 1/2 MOA and the Rem. 6 XC ( 10.5 Lbs ) gets me down into, the LOW .2's to, 3's !
Load development @ 100 and 200 Yds, is OVER, so NOW, to "Verify" at, 500 and 700 yds then, it's,.. "Dial baby, Dial",. on Steel !
IF, I thought about getting, REAL "Serious" about, plinking at Steel at, LONG Range, I'd build me, a 7 SAUM, 28 incher, for, Berger or, Sierra 180 - 184's !!
But, I'm NOT that, "Serious",.. anymore ! My son has, a 7 PRC, so,.. I just watch, Him !
