Better caliber for long range shooting 7mm or 243?

I would shoot the 243 with the new 87 grain Bergers. I tested them at several ranges with several different rifles and shot them very well out of a 1-10 twist. They have a very high bc for a 6mm of that weight and are very accurate. I think you could shoot them better for paper punching than the high recoil of the 7mm remington and way cheaper with much better barrel life.

you have not said what gun/s and scope you have for each. the 7 is going to kick more if it does not have a brake. also heat up faster. also cost more to shoot.

I have 2 options....243 using 80 grain nosler ballistic tip bullets 1-10 twist

or

7mm using 168 bergers 1x9.5 twist

What would make a better gun for shooting at paper 500 yards or less

(i understand this is not long range to some, but for me it is)

thanks

weatherby- without a doubt the one with a remington action and krieger barrel. my 7(krieger) will shoot circles around factory .243. my .243( hart) will shoot circles around a factory 7.
