Bolt won't close on new Rem 700 300 RUM.....

Remington 700 300 Ultra Mag, (American wilderness rifle) brand new with factory ammo.

I had a muzzle break installed and it bedded. I went to shoot it today and the bolt will go forward, but whet cocked down, it stops and will not complete the closer all the way.

I removed scope and base, and also removed from stock, and it still wont close.

Any ideas? I see nothing in chamber.

Check for bedding thru the action screw hole

^^^This. Also, take it back to whoever did the work, unless you did it yourself. If someone else did it, that should have been checked before it was returned to you.

3 hour drive,.....I removed the trigger and firing pin from the bolt...checked screw hole...nothing there I can see.

I would still check behind the lug for bedding. Too much coincidence!

Will it close on empty chamber?

May not be bedding material, if barrel was removed to thread barrel, when it was reinstalled it may have been improperly headspaced

It WILL close on an empty chamber just fine. Closer look, the bolt is not going far enough....I still cant see anything in there.

Sounds like the headspace is too tight.

Do factory rifles still have indexing marks on barrel and action? Might check, if barrel was pulled for brake, and over tightened.....marks will be off.

Are trying to chamber factory ammunition or reloaded ammunition?

Factory loaded ammo...Hornady.

Check the ejector in the bolt face. Can you push that plunger all the way in?

Yes,,,....plunger goes all the way in. I bet its the headspace.
