300 wsm and 180 hammer bullets

I'm pretty hot on the new HHT line. The 168gr and 182gr HHT's should fit comfortably in the short action.

Nice thing about the short actions is that you can grind away at all the space to the rear of the port and end up with a bigger port.
Then use a bigger case and still have a short action. lol

i might try the 168 HHT in my Rum, but for now the 180 HH shoots crazy accurate with single digit ES (and Kills)

Tikka's have a 9 twist? They used to be 1:11

I am pretty sure the factory barrel is still 1:11. I am looking at a Benchmark barrel.

Think both bullets would be good. I have always liked the 166gr Hammer Hunter in the wsm. I think my first choice now would be the 163gr Hammer HHT. The 180g class of bullets wind up intruding on the case capacity too much.

FYI - tested some 150 HH yesterday afternoon at 300 yds and it looks really promising I'll tinker with it just a little more tomorrow. I also will retest the 166's too.

I did my first round of pressure testing ladders today with the 180 HH and encountered pressure signs earlier than expected - got up to 61.8g of H4350 and only about 2800fps. I was reusing hornady nickle plated brass from factory loads and I am hoping that when I get the ADG brass I just ordered that will help. (The factory loads would sometimes exhibit the same pressure signs and achieve the same 2800fps) As it was I was getting a sticky bolt lift and ejector flow. Primer was a littler flatted but not much. I am new to reloading but am told that Hornady brass is soft and the plated brass doesn't grip the chamber sides as well. Hopefully I can get it up a bit more with the different brass.

I am not a fan of nickel plated brass. 3000fps should not be an issue.

I should mention also I am shooting a 20" suppressed barrel. But I am glad to hear that - hopefully the ADG brass proves better as I am sure it will.
