300 rum loads

I just bought today a Remington 700 Police in 300 RUM it is new with a 26" Heavy barrel and a HS Precision stock and will have a 50-bmg style brake. I shoot a secret receipe I got here in my 338 RUM and it's Retumbo, so a 300 Retumbo load would be great, I could bulk buy that powder.

I hear really good things with Barnes TSX's (especially as hunting bullets) so I went and picked up a box of 200gr. I will be using H1000.
Anybody have any results with these?
Jimbo, I'm using the same rig as you. Let me know what you find.

Ok here is my results from Saturday, am going to try one more idea before I move out beyond 100 yards, but here are my results. Good luck
Ok here is what I have come up with, bare in mind that I am still in load development and am still only shooting at 100 yards. The powders I have tried are as follows, Retumbo, H1000, Ramshot magnum, RE22, RE25. The bullets I have shot are berger 175gr, 185gr, 190gr and 210gr, also tried hornady 208gr A-Max. The 208 A-Maxes shoot great, but as I still have 3 brand new boxes of berger 210's, those are what I am going to shoot and my gun seems to really like them. I load them .020 off the lands, I installed a wyatt extended box magazine. The load data came from Walt at berger and have tweaked his data to suit my gun. The chrono I am using is the CED.
210gr berger with 93gr of Retumbo, speeds were 2955fps-3023fps, quarter size groups. 5 shots groups.
210gr berger with 94gr of Retumbo, speeds were 3048fps-3067fps. 5 shot groups.
210gr berger with 92gr H1000, speeds were 3011fps-3031fps. 5 shot groups.
210gr berger with 94gr H1000, speeds were 3093fps-3128fps. 5 shot groups.
210gr berger with 95gr H1000, speeds were 3126fps-3146fps. 5 shot groups.
210gr berger with 89gr RE22, speeds were 3095fps-3124fps. 5 shot groups.
210gr berger with 89gr RE25, speeds were 2977fps-3008fps. 5 shot groups.
210gr berger with 91gr RE25, speeds were 3048fps-3064fps. 5 shot groups.
I felt the Ramshot magnum powder showed too high of pressure at the max load, but was not happy with the speeds. The gun I used is a Remington Sendero 300RUM, 26 inch barrel, 6-24x50 with 30mm tube Sightron S111 scope. I still want to get an after market trigger as I hate the stock X-Mark trigger. I am using federal 215 primers, remington cases, my measurments are from the base of the case to the Ogive-3.125"
Good luck and hope my data helps you come up with a load that works for you.

Freebird63, thanks for posting that data, man that is detailed and fantastic, Thanks

I will have some more data to post sometime later this week. Am trying a little experiment. I am so ready to start moving out to longer distances, just want to make sure the load I decide on is going to put the meat in the freezer and ring the gong at 1000 yards. I am halfway to buying my new trigger, once I get the new trigger my groups should get a little tighter. That trigger in my sendero is junk. I will keep you all posted with load details. Good shootin
Chuck

My favorite load for my 300 ultra is:
92 grains of Retumbo
Federal 215M primer
210 Berger VLD loaded to the lands
Nosler Brass
Same hole groups at 100 yards. Velocity is 3200 fps but my barrel is 30 inches and this load is max in my rifle so be careful.

Wow , how long did that ladder test take with the barrel heating up so quickly? I can only shoot mine for so long and the ADD kicks in from all the waiting on the barrel cooling. Oh and I load RL 25 87.5 g with 200 accubond seated .020 off the lands.

I finally got my 300 R.U.M. done. It is a Rem. 700 Police with a 26" bull barrel and a HS Precision strock, Ferrel steel 20 MOA base, Valadia 35mm steel medium rings and a Millett LRS-1 6-25x56 Illuminated Mildot scope. Trigger breaks at 2-lbs, now. I had the barrel threaded and a 30 caliber Miculek muzzle brake put on. I had to show somebody, most of my buddies never shoot past 100 yards, so they wouldn't care.

I will get my dies Tuesday but I have a buch of bullets I have bought to try,I have a bunch of Retumbo and some H-1000, Nosler 200 + 180gr Accubonds, Berger 210 Hunting VLD, Berger 210 gr Long Range Match, Sierra 210 MTK,and Sierra 190 gr. MTK and abunch of bullets in the 155-165 gr for my 308's. Any pet loads would be great. Thanks, Ken

Hi everyone, i am new to the site, but i thought i would jump in here.
I am loading 210gr Matchkings over 95gr of Retumbo, .070 off of the lands with a cci 250 mag primer and getting 3100fps and 1/2moa accuracy out to 549yds which is the longest range i have available to me at the moment.

Thanks, thats what I was looking for and you even had the muzzle velocity. Thanks Again, Ken

I have one and have set up several for friends. 96.0 grains of RE 25 behind 180 Accubonds with Fed215m primers. All shoot exceedingly well. Also, 96.0 of H1000 and 168 grain Nosler Combined Tech works great. All approach or exceed 3250 fps with low es and sd. Work up from below and watch for pressure.

Those loads are coming out of an M700 LSS with the 26" factory pipe with a Holland QD brake. If you cant manage to get a decent group I would get your barrel Re crowned. Even the senderos and police models can benefit.
