6.5 Creedmoor or 25-06 for Deer

The 6.5 GAP 4s (72.8 grains of H20) is a joke. It's nothing more than a 6.5-300 SAUM. I also highly doubt it has better barrel life than the 6.5-284 (68.33 grains of H20), as the GAP has 4 grains more powder capacity.
Okay, talk to George Gardner of GA Precision. He will tell you the benefits of both cartridges.

I don't give a crap what he has to say about HIS cartridge. Of course he's going to preach the "benefits" of his design...He's trying to sell you something. It's the car salesman method..."Mine is better than yours, and here's why..." That's what salesmen do.

I have a custom 257AI Roberts 26 inch. The 25-06 has more powder capacity, but with low case stress in either round they are very comparable. As for cheap cases and necking down the 06 parent the 25-06 wins. I've owned the 25-06 for many years also with a 26 inch bull b. varmint bullets are great and the up to 120 work great. at some point the shot placement is the real key

Still dealing with the snow here. I've driven in snow and ice before up in Tennessee, but I haven't left my house in 2 days. The reason being, the roads are horrible, wrecks everywhere, and people around here already can't drive when it rains, snow and ice makes it 300x worse. It's not that I don't trust myself, it's every other idiot on the road I don't trust.
Saw them piling up on the ice in LA. also, unbelievable weather! Global warming at its best. You are smart staying in, very costly having to go to the body shop. Stay warm!, and thing cherry blossom time. Don't even want to shoot in this crap! May 2018 be a good one for you.

Curious why not a 7/08 or 7/08AI? can get right close to 3000 with a 140 and we are getting 3160 with 120s. Just a thought

7mm-08 and 7mm-08 AI are great cartridges. Especially pushing the 168 VLD's for close to mid range, and with a 1:8 twist and the new 195 Elite Hunters for long range.

I'm looking to build a custom deer/antelope hunting rifle. I can't decide which caliber I want to go with and I'm looking for suggestions. I will be reloading for ammo. I want a lightweight rifle so I'm trying to keep the barrel length in check. Thanks for the help

Just get the 6.5 CM and be done with it ... you can even get some guys here lose their minds.

I guess I would just leave science to scientists, there may be evidence that we know who you voted for in the last election. Your limbic system overloads your cerebral cortex, and you have a female brain. Instead of asking pertinent questions, you choose to attack facts and science.

I said the reset button. Not the babble button.

I would just leave babbling to a babbler. Oops... really sorry man. Didn't mean for it to come out that way.
