Hunting with a 50 BMG?

If I was hunting elephant and the elephant was driving a Kenworth and I had to take out the engine block to stop the truck so the elephant would get out before I could shoot it and I could only use 1 gun then I would use the 50 BMG.

I have no issues with any one else using a 50 but I think for hunting anything in North America a 338 Lapua or in my case a 338AE is more than enough. No offense to anybody. JMO

Hello yobuck do you have any contact info for Mark King ? As I'm interested in some 50 BMG rifles, Improved 50 BMG rifles, or otherwise altered 50 BMG rifles. Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts, opinions, or answers.

I carried my buddy's tac50 while aoudad hunting several times. Had an opportunity to use it but couldn't get it steady enough to be comfortable enough to take the ram from off of the ridge he was on. 13,000ft lbs is a lot of energy to not be able to account for.

That said I'd like another crack with it and a 647gr TSX.

A friend of mine used a Barrett 50 to kill a coastal brown bear in Alaska. His guide said he had never seen a more effective gun.
I just want to know who carried it. I just sold a 50 Barrett. It's a tank of a rifle. You'd have to be hercules to lug that monster anywhere... I'm not. How about 23 pounds with the BORS system on the rail?

Both my buddy and another hunter had Barretts. I do not know the other guy. They were staying on a large boat. They would see a bear and would hop in a skiff and go to the shore for the stalk. My buddy's bear was about a hundred yards when he K.O.d it. The other guy was stalking a bear when they walked around some large rocks and startled another bear. He killed it about ten feet away.
The guide was so impressed with the Barrett that he worked out a deal with the other hunter. He took the Barrett for the balance of the hunt. My buddy still has his.

Ours were 28.5 pounds and I have carried one many times up some steep-rough terrain, along with about 50 pounds of essential equipment. Not a big fan of the Barrett.

Edit: I'm no Hercules... not exactly average, just not particularly tough. I had two guys at the time that were under 150 pounds. They would hump half their body weight on a regular occasion. Doesn't take a monster of a man, just highly motivated and very determined.

Well he is just north of Harrisburg at i believe Duncannon PA.
He has also been pretty much the go to guy for the 6mm Dashers and others used by the Williamsport shooters. He shouldn't be very hard to locate.

Pretty much, case just shortened a little as it's hard to get them cut to exact length at the shoulder junction without a lathe.

What dies are you using? I have a 50rb barrel in my safe I haven't shot in several years I need to get up and running.
