Recoil

This thread is a month old but I will post anyway.
Turpentine21 I too love 44 mags and had a redhawk as well, very accurate gun but had it stolen at a gun range.I didn't lock the doors on my truck and while shooting a rifle I loaded up and noticed the redhawk missing. No one saw a thing!
Expensive lesson and would love to get another as accurate as the one that got stolen. Not sure they even still make them.
Got hearing aids last year and the Miracle Ear doc says to try shooting with hearing aids in your ear as they will compress the sound.I asked if compress means it will reduce the noise and he said yes.So I have that to do as soon as the weather gets a bit better.
I really don't like folks stealing stuff, especially guns. Had a friend have all his stolen one time, he never told a soul, no police, no one, a year or two later a guy come up to him and ask him if he ever found out who stole his guns, he looked at the guy and said yessir, right now. People do some really crappy stuff in my opinion; glad all folks aren't like that.

I just got some cheapo OTC hearing aids also and have been hesitating to use them at the range. Let's compare notes on this

That's a deal!As soon as the snow melts a bit I will hit the range.
If it were me I would try a 22 lr first just incase the OTC aids don't work as well as my 7,450.00 hearing aids do.
I used almost all of our savings to get these hearing aids just to be told last week a brand new technology in hearing aids will be released soon as they are still in demo.My hearing aid doc said he will put my name in to get a demo set.Don't know when but these hearing aids I have presently amplify all sound. If the tv is on and my wife wants to tell me something the tv and her voice is the same level and I have to turn the tv off to hear her.
I saw him January 17th so I'll hear soon if I get a demo set or not.I did tell him I can't spend another 7,450.00 and he said he would check on it for me.
If anyone is even thinking of getting new hearing aids, wait until the new one's are out for use.

$7, 450.00 ……..Wow, I'll have to learn to sign! I already have some of the basics. When I was younger people would often "sign" me……though they only used 1 finger! 😜 memtb

Thanks guys,I never knew how much I really know about sign language!
I'm almost a pro!

Yep, not new, but an important thread.
I had a set of hearing aids. They did compress the sound. The tech asked me when fitting and adjusting what I did that was at high noise levels.
She reduced engine open exhaust noises, the shooting noises and especially the magnum noises.
Works great.
I still wear over the ear noise suppressors.

My ears went away due to many ear infections/torn eardrums, job related, open headers, and a lot of shooting rifles, and some pistols.

Without my hearing aids I cannot hear my 3 YO granddaughter.

I sure hope so. I often felt like they were just praying on the elderly.
I should add that I felt like they were to eager to take her money even when she reached the point they probably couldn't help her at all.

Yep, when it gets down to that level then money or cost is somewhat irrelevant to being able to hear…especially the grandkids.

I hate to tell you this but the pair I got were $100 and are totally in the ear. They amplify all sounds but are adjustable so that works for me now. I had trouble hearing higher pitched sounds and now I can, adjustmaent is ongoing to get it so I hear but not get blasted. I have noticed that my left ear hearing is worse than my right so adjustment was different. They are interchangeable so now I have to mark the left one.
