QuickLOAD way off from reality. Solutions?

I updated QL a few months ago and I seem to be coming up with results that seem off too. I enter bullet length, COAL, case capacity, barrel length, powder charge. I then adjust Ba to get the velocity to match measured. (I use a MagSpd V3) Then if I change the powder charge a half grain to a grain the actual velocity is not close to the predicted velocity. I use to be able to do this.

Velocities have always been 50-200fps slower on QL with the majority landing 100-150 slower on QL.

I've always found pressure very close to where QL predicted when using actual OAL and H2O capacity. I've been tracking actual vs predicted velocity for about a year my results closely match Zen Archery's findings.

For those who'd run the numbers to see what you get, please try the following...

264WM, 24" bbl, 147 ELDM, 86 gr H2O, COAL 3.34", 62.8 gr H1000. My QL tells me this is 2720 fps. Real velocity is 3047 fps.

7 Rem Mag, 26" bbl, 175 ELDX, 86.2 gr H2O, COAL 3.34", 66.3 gr RL26. QL tells me 2724 fps. Real velocity is 2953 fps.

300WM, 24" bbl, 208 ELDM, 97.914 gr H2O, COAL 3.65", 78.3 gr H1000. QL tells me 2710 fps. Real velocity is 2882 fps.

For those commenting on my case capacities, that's not gonna close the 200-300 fps gap (see column "QL H2O" for what QL needed to match my real velocities).

For reference, the volume and charge measurements were taken on a Sartorius scale that's within 0.001 grams (0.015 gr) of spot on with my check weight, and also matches my PACT scale.

To get the H2O, I used an uncleaned, unsized piece of brass (≥ 3X firings) straight out of the ammo box. Weighed empty case, added DI H2O till level with case mouth, weighed again. I repeated it a couple times, and was within less than a 0.1 grains across different pieces of brass. The number might not be perfect, but it's not off by more than what might seep into a fired primer, and perhaps a little bit of extra from SAAMI max neck length.

I'm actually on a Mac, so have to restart in bootcamp to run QL. Will do it later this evening, and look for the "weighting factor".

3.34"?... in a 300 Win mag also?...
Seating the bullet in your case that deep is causing a serious boost in pressure
I had ~ 3.7" COAL

With your COAL at 3.34"
300 Win Mag
24" Barrel
H1000 78.3 grains
208 ELD

QL gives me
70035 PSI (max is 64,000 psi in the 300 Win Mag)
2964 fps
and 113% fill rate...with that fill rate/compression, when you're seating that bullet it must sound like your chewing on dry Cap't Crunch...
Way too compressed...and way too high of pressure
What is your neck tension?
How are you keeping the bullets from pushing out after seating the bullet?

I used your specs for the 7 rem mag . I did the weighting factor change that I recommended in my previous post #5 . it looks like things are lining up pretty darned close .the outside temp ,I have set at 70*F . you said actual velocity is 2953 FPS , I estimate velocity at 2959 FPS

my QL says...57925 psi
2833 fps
104.9% fill

Did you use my 97 gr H2O measurement for that value? My real loads rattle like maracas, with no "crunch" on seating, so I'm nowhere near 105% fill I think.

Who is using QL on Windows? (I am)
And who is using QL on Mac/iOS?

Maybe something got fubarred when you switched QL to Mac/iOS?
I dunno...

Don't think you can run it on Mac (I wish though). I have to restart in BootCamp which makes my Mac a Windows machine.

Someone talk me through shot start a bit.

How are you adjusting and based on what? If that makes sense. Is it a guess kinda like weighting factor or is there components that drive that number.

I have an old windows laptop from a decade ago sitting around just for QL. Sucks.

I ran a QL simulation using #'s from my 300 Win mag ( 24" barrel) using the 208 gr Hornady BTHP ( my QL version does not have the 208 eldm), H2O capacity of 92.8 gr (Rem brass) OAL of 3.410 ( my mag length) 78.3 grs H-1000, WF of .39 and start pressure of 3625 psi. My velocity would be 2891 ft/sec with a pressure of 58631 psi.
