Do all Bullet for 30-06 AI?

Its time to work on my son's rifle- a left hand Tikka with a 20" Proof. It is currently at the gunsmith getting the barrel installed and chambered in 30-06 AI. This is his "only" rifle since he shoots left and all my rifles are righthand. (doesn't stop him from using them ) But he will be off to College in Idaho and will be taking just this one for hunting; antelope- deer, elk. He is a great shot, recording kills out to 600 yds with my 7 saum, and 300 wsm.

So what bullet, loads do you like? I know it will be up to what's available for the next while! but I got time to work on finding components!

What twist rate is that barrel?

If it were me I would look no further than a hammer bullet in the correct weight range for the twist rate of the barrel and they are available a little pricey but worth the expense if it is for hunting and not range play

165 Scirocco II or 185 Berger Classic or 130 Barnes TTSX or 165 Nosler Partition. If I could only take just one of these in the 06 Aye-eye anywhere and everywhere, I wouldn't lose any sleep.

It has a 20" 1:10 twist. I have a SWFA 3-15x 42 scope on it

With a 1-10, I'd probably run 180 gr Barnes tsx or a 178gr hornady eldx

ELD-x gets my vote too. Hold together better than expected at close range but still expand at longer distances, very good "all around" bullet in my experience. That's using the 200 gr. In a 300 wsm.

I'm running Hodgdon 4350 although my 06 is not an improved version 58 Grains of 4350 pushing a 150 grain Nosler partition very accurate

Look at the absolute hammer reloading page in the reloading forum. I believe guys had good luck with Benchmark and the 162 AH in a 30-06. H100V with the 178 AH.

I would recommend 162 grain hammer hunter or 178 eldx or nosler accubond 165 gr or 165 gr partions
