As per the idea of another member, this might be a cool and fun thread to start...

We can discuss 8mm calibers, wildcats, loads, hunting with 8mm's, etc... Anything 8mm can be talked about in here, and we can't derail it. :D

Everyone feel free to post up comments, opinions, thoughts, negatives, or anything else you feel like.

I'll start off by listing a new wildcat 8mm myself, and Mark (MontanaRifleman) thought up...

Finally! :) A great idea, because the performance of the 8 mm ('323) ammo seems to be widely underestimated in the USA. You've got the biggest market and the most famous producers in the world, so it should be possible to find a way of changing that. In Europe the 8s are extremely popular and used for all kinds of hunting. Of course also for long - range hunting, I'll just name the famous and beltless 8 x 68S. :D

I've personally always been intrigued by the 8mm Remington Magnum. I don't know why but it's always "turned my crank" so to speak.

Lack of suitable bullets being the biggest detractor. The 200grn SMK is no slouch but a 250-ish would be a good bit better...

I nearly picked up a 325wsm for kicks & grins, it seems to be a nice little stomper in it's own right.

I wish we could talk Berger into making some 8mm VLD's & Hybids in the 180-250gr range. That would be sweet for the 8mm Titan, if I ever decide to create it...Which, if Berger will make the bullets, I'll have the reamers and dies built....

8mm Titan...It's like the bean field of dreams. If you build it, they will drop. :D

I was following the 7mm discussion as well, but the 8mm realm is also intriguing to me. I was interested in the 8mm RM as well, but bullet selection is not very likable.

I think that the 8mm would be a great long range option, if the bullets were produced, because it would give shooters an option between 30 cal and 338. I would think that better velocities could be achieved, while still sending a massive projectile down range. I would love to see this take off!

You thought up? :)

Good thread anyway.

Here's Midway's selection of pills and not a good long range one in the bunch...

Cutting Edge might be persuaded to make some. They could make just about anything. Matrix too.
Ok, WE thought up..... :D Edited original post....Better?

The SMK is the closest thing to LR capabilities with a .520 BC....But that's still not gonna get it done, IMO.

Just curious as to the performance you would expect from your 8mm Titan...??

Got my attention... :)

A lot of good bullets in 8mm ('323) are out there! :) F. ex. Sierra 220grs, bonded Woodleighs 220 - 250grs (!!), 200grs Accubond and so on... but no Bergers

I wouldn't even know where to guess...I would guess it would probably push a 250 between .300 RUM and .338 Lapua speeds. At this point it's anybody's guess as to how it will perform...

I really would like to see this one come to life...

Ya know if Dan would make up some 250's, i could see myself (or you) being the first kid on the block with say a 8mm/338 LM Imp. I could see them being a .8ish BC bullet traveling in excess of 3200 fps down a 32" nitrided tube with a good load of RL33 :)

I could shoot with Broz and his LRKM :D
