Hammer bullets shoot!!!

I gotcha! With the Hammer Bullets the amount of jump is pretty much inconsequential. They do not mind jumping at all. The only load that I avoid is touching the lands. A bad hunting experience years ago taught me to avoid that in a hunting rifle. Now that we have Hammers I do not see any advantage to jamming a bullet. Any more I have gotten very lazy about checking the distance from the lands. I just make sure that the bullet is not contacting them and seat to convenience. Whether that is mag length

Since the Hammer bullets aren't sensitive to the amount of jump and they don't seem to copper foul the barrel very much, is it safe to shoot them interchangeably with jacketed bullets without cleaning the barrel? I'd really like to use the Hammers as my standard bullet, and have the option to use a different bullet if I wanted to.

Lol. We have never had a problem, but since learning that there could be a problem going from one bullet to another, we always thoroughly clean before changing bullets. I figure it is best safe than sorry.

Got it... better safe than sorry.

Do the Hammer bullets shoot any better from either dirty bores or clean bores?

I think that is probably the personality of the rifle. I am not a spotless bore kind of guy, so I clean periodically. When I do clean and have a hunting trip coming I always go with a fouled bore. I can't recall ever shooting until accuracy drops off due to a dirty rifle. I have always cleaned before a problem shows up. So I guess I like my rifles dirty but not too dirty.;)

Out of a 22" Barrel Savage bone stock and youth stock. Get em right and they WILL shoot! Should have added on photo Fed 215 Primer

Tagging in. Interesting thread. If the 215's from Berger I just ordered don't produce better than the last bullet I tried in the 300 WM. I'm gonna have to try these.
