30 inch 9.5 twist bartlein barrel rem action trued and built by dick at rays sporting goods in Dallas tx it took 8 months to get barrel were should I start with powder and bullet it's my first custom also witch is the best ballistic program i had a lot of time so I have been working on by shooting range I have still plates out to 1500 yards in 50 yard increments in my front yard i have a 308 im out to 800 yards the scope will be here in a day or two

If you have a bobcat problem that should do it!

I've seen what 338 edge can do. Once you get into the super rifles and have to dial in every shot over 700 yrds I really like the thought and skill that goes into it

I don't hunt bobcats with it I leave that to my reduced load 22-250 I killed 78 last year hides are worth a lot

I have several 338 RUMs and they like H 4831 sc , Retumbo and US 869 with 250gr
Accubonds.

With my rifles the velocity was over 3100 ft/sec (No Pressure).

I didn't have any luck with H1000 even though it looked like one of the preferred
powders.

Using the 225 Accubonds They liked the H 4831 sc best for just over 3200 ft/sec.

Very nice!
With the Vias type brakes it would be wise to put a mat or blanket under the muzzle when shooting prone, especially if West Texas is as dusty as I'm thinking!

Dusty is not even the word for it no trees and lots of tumble weeds no grass well maybe a little grass but not much our land is not measured in acre it is in secessions the house nex to me is 15 miles over to the south and I can see his airport runway from my house and lots of oil wells lol

That is a crazy amount of cats! I have only seen two and killed one my entire life. One was chasing a fawn deer several years back during hunting season and the other came into my Johnny Stewart while coyote hunting. They are around, just few and far between. There is no telling how many have come my calling and I never seen.

My wife would probably divorce me if I had a 1500 yard range in the front yard!

What J E Custom said for loads w/that bullet.

Filler'up w/50 BMG and the 300 SMK and see what she thinks.

BTW, filler'up means work up carefully but it'll end up pretty much full.

Also, I'm bettin' she'll do less pelt damage than the 250 and you can hit'em wwwaaaayyy on out there. Possibly on the neighbors runway.

I am running 250 scenars with 96.6 grns H-1000 @ 3165. Pushed them up to 98 grns @ 3295 but that was pushing things a little much. Same Bartlien barrel 9.5 @ 30 inches.
