Petition to Leupold for MOA reticle

Matching reticule and turret seems basic to me and is one of the simple reasons I have no Leupold in the safe. When I was young owning a Leupold was about as cool as could be and meant something about how serious you take your hunting but now days they have nothing that I find interesting.

I would gladly sell my 5 Leupold 4.5x14x40 VXIIIs and replace them all with Nikon, Zeiss Conquests, NF, USO, or Huskemaw.

My old Nikon 4x12x40 was a much better scope than these. Brighter, more clear, less money, and tracked just fine.

Well, there is one way to get a 4.5-14x50, 30mm tube, side focus & parallax Leupold with a MOA reticle.

Now what was that company???

Good point...

Somebody wanna fill me in here? In a p.m. so as not to hi-jack this thread.
Plus Im a huge Leupold fan. Hey Im from Oregon. I shoot Nosler bullets too,:D and wear Columbia, and have Gerber and Leatherman knives.....
I like to keep it local:D

*********EDIT*****WOW, ok I got a TON of pm's on that one, thanks guys. I dont need anymore.*****************

Yes this is true. Greybull Leupold = $1150, Optics Planet (fact Leupold) = $759 + $150 trip to the custom shop for the proposed reticle= cheaper still. Also having the ability to get it in another power offering, better still. The point is drive a demand for a factory offering. Nice plug though.

**EDIT** Being able to change loads, elevation, and temperature with out having to reorder turrets, and being limited to 1/3 MOA adjustment= Priceless.

Every time I look to buy a scope Leupold is on that list but they never make the cut in large part due to their lack of long range reticle options and that matching reticles and turrets seem to be a crazy concept to them. And their glass is not good enough for their price point compared to the competition.

Despite my/our feelings Leupold has a huge market share and I don't think much that we say will impact their decision making. Not trying to be harsh just my opinion. They are a good company but not great in my mind, and could be very easily.

An MOA reticle would be a big step. Clean up the glass too while you are at it!

I thought the Greybull/Leupold reticle was proprietary, and the only way to get that reticle is if you buy it from Greybull. No? Still, if the scope is 759, plus 150 to custom shop, then you have to add shipping and the cost of the custom turrets, what is the difference in cost then?

Does Leup Custom Shop offer an MOA reticle? Last I looked, I didn't see one as an option. They've got every other kind of strange reticle, but MOA, it seems. Will the 'make' a reticle for you? Seems like that'd be pretty costly...

Our reticle is proprietary. Texan was referring to getting Leupold to offer their own MOA reticle.

Heres what is different between our scope and a regular VX3 Long Range:

We use the tall target elevation turret and a low windage turret since we do wind in the reticle.

1/3 MOA elevation clicks/20 MOA per rotation vs 15.

Our MOA reticle.

Zero stop (does not limit "up" adjustment).

We do the dials in-house and guarantee them accurate with good data provided. They are marked for yardage and 10mph wind in MOA. The dial we ship the scope with is marked in clicks but can be MOA upon request.

Each scope is sprinkled with magic long range pixie dust.:D

Do you sell the pixie dust seperately, by chance? :D

Have you guys considered putting your reticle in a M4? If you had that option, I may have bit a year ago vs. going with the NF. There's alot of guys here that want the toughest scopes made, as you know, not to knock the VX3 at all, just saying...

Have you guys considered making and selling as an option an MOA reticle like the NF NPR1? ...another reason I went with NF...but I did not appreciate the weight of the NF. I woulda been very happy, I think, with an M4 with true MOA (by this I mean and NPR1) reticle. I know your reticle is MOA, but there is a 3 MOA gap from the center of the cross hairs to where your rangefinding MOA lines start, is there not? If you stuck (easier said than done, I realize) a couple of 1 MOA hashes in there, I bet you may find a wider market.

Ok. The one thing I didn't like about the reticle was it seems to cover up so much with all the lines below the crosshair. I know they serve a purpose but it reminded me of my old bowsight where I had a pin for every 5 yards from 20 to 50 yards. Just a bit cluttered.
