Rifle Insurance

You have brought up a great question, I'm going to do some checking today myself. Emaclaw is who I use and as far as Traveler's go I haven't had a good experience with them. I had one claim with them and they dropped me.

I am using Collectibles Insurance like Mrvmax for about 20 years, never had a claim. It is a stated value policy with no list of insured items and no single item over $25k. It has evolved over time, originally had list of items with stated value for each.

My cost is about $64 per $10k coverage value (there is a small policy origination fee so that rate changes slightly).

Me too. They are great but I have not made a claim. I am covered even if I drop or damage something. Everyone I spoke with that had a claim with them was very happy. I hope I done need it but nice to have

Thanks

Buck

As a member of the National Sporting Clays Association. I insure my guns with Sportsmans Insurance Agency Inc. out of Florida that are affiliated with the NSCA. I also get my Instructors insurance through them. They insure my guns in my truck on the road as well as at home At replacement value. They also insure, upgrades, triggers, custom work, optics, etc. I have found them to be very reasonable

I'm glad I got to see this post. As someone who lost almost everything in a house fire on October 17, our homeowners policy covered $3000 on firearms. Allstate includes gun safes, firearms, ammo, and reloading equipment in that sum. The guns in the safes were ok, after cleaning, but I lost a lot more than 3k worth of reloading equipment and ammo.

I'm not new to rifles or hunting, but I'm a bit new to custom rifles and flying with them to hunt.

I have looked at insurance through my home owner's provider and to say it is high is an understatement. Literally impacts my gun spending money! I would ship insured, but I don't feel that option is much better.
…..or is there a better rifle insurance? Does the nra still offer anything?

What tips do you have for trip insurance to cover these custom rifles while on the plane or while at hunting camp?
I have bought insurance thru my homeowners just before the trip and cancel it when I get back. They charge you for the 6mth term but will refund remaining time when you cancel. Fairly reasonable this way.

Another reason not to use homeowners insurance.

Homeowners' and NRA insurance are a real rip off.

I use Eastern. Before that I used Collectibles

Eastern covers at a super reasonable rate. Includes damage and theft while you are out hunting or at the range or transporting in your car

Also covers your firearms in shipment, which saves a small fortune at UPS and FedEx.

They also don't require a serialized list, or appraisals. Just a policy total amount.

On my policy flood is excluded. Ask about that.
