6.5 PRC issues

The reason I ask if you cleaned the rifle really good before shooting was that I picked up a rifle new out of the box and cleaned the bore real good then when out shot it and had alot of problems with it. The problem ended being the loss stuff that I left in the chamber got up in the shoulder and throat area causing all kinds of issues from that time on I clean new guns may be even better than used and I run a load round through the rifle and inspect it. I have found other problems with gun since than. I don't think most factory guns are clean after they are built I've found some pretty crazy stuff in them seems like most manufacturers are putting weird stuff on barrel thread that if its in the chamber you will have issues.

He actually said that he is new to reloading. But then said he was running factory loads. Said he has 30 rounds on since he last cleaned, but didn't know if he removed carbon ring at that time, so 90 rounds suppressed through a new barrel. Give it a great cleaning and verify you have got that carbon ring out then see how it does..

I think the combination of overly tight chambers, which Christensen is known for, incorrect head spacing, which Christensen admitted to the OP, a carbon ring that was excessive (pictures), and backpressure from the suppressor, ultimately led to expanded web dimension (heavy bolt lift), flattened primers, excessive ejector marks, carbon blowback on the case neck, and pretty much all the obvious signs of over pressure just short of an exploding action. I've seen this before and it makes me wonder if these semi custom factory rifle manufacturers are testing their rifle specs with suppressors? I think not. Even though they are selling them as short barreled and suppressor ready. Concerning to say the least. Christensen you can do better than this. Or maybe not:-/

The suppressor is speeding up the carbon ring IMO. If you notice how sooty your brass is even down the case body, the back pressure from the suppressor is creating a lot of carbon fouling. A carbon ring isn't a flaw in the chambering job. The fact that it got this bad after 90 rounds isn't an inherent flaw either. If you don't focus on the throat real good when cleaning, and just assume it's clean without scoping it, then a carbon ring will build despite thinking you just "cleaned" it. I'm not knocking you or your practices at all! I dealt with the same thing which prompted me to buy a borescope. Now, when I clean, I focus on the throat and I scope it to make sure the carbon ring is gone. I have two custom barrels that will show a ring like that forming after 120 or so rounds, and I don't shoot suppressed. As a side note, I probably have my trimmer set up a little short which is why mine appears so soon.

It's going to take some work to get that one out, but once you do, it will be much easier during subsequent cleaning sessions as long as you scope it to make sure you got everything out of the throat

Hmmm. Looks potentially dangerous! Back bullet off another .030" from chamber bullet lands. If this problem continues AT ALL, pressure is too high. Probably a powder issue. Have a pro investigate and solve the problem. Good luck!

If that is a soft reference to my tirade - let me harden for you. I am STILL ****ED that I did not listen to, or believe others that tried to warn me about how bad Christensen is for inconsistent products and customer service.

Happens when brass is trimmed shorter than chamber, which leaves a little gap between case neck and end of chamber, carbon will build up and cause pressure. YouTube "ways to clean/remove carbon ring", im sure there are several tips to clean it. It can be a little stubborn to clean but usually not a big deal. Definitely wouldn't shoot anymore until it is taken care of! Good luck
