IMR 4166 and Hammer Bullets

At 36 grains it was about 2/3rds full so there was plenty more room for powder. No extractor marks or plunger marks on the brass. It was so dirty though. I cleaned the barrel after taking the first shot to see after effects and it was filthy black patches. Seemed to have some serious powder residue.
2thirds full concerns me, sounds like detonation. Case should be about85 to 90 percent full. Or am I missing something.

Max load for other similar weighted projectiles was around 38 so I started at 36. Moving to a slower powder for sure. I think h4350 or maybe 6.5 StaBall may work much better. I also have some IMR4451 and H100v to test with.

I'm gonna say that's gonna be the other extreme and be too slow
Trying to find a powder that's faster with case fill is a little challenging though. Maybe h380 or BLc2. I'm looking at faster powders with a similar weighted projectile that are showing max loads around 40 gr and that's a little challenging. Blc2 is showing about 40.3-40.5 and h380 about 41.

Stop looking at similar weight projectiles, I was gonna suggest H380

Those would both be good choices.
Honestly try what you have in the 4350 burn rate with the Hunters. Like I posted, RL16 was great for me. Plus, H4350 is the go to powder in the 6.5 Creed, although it's better for 140 gr bullets.
You just need extra case capacity because the Hunters will most likely not hit pressure until after load book maximum loads.
That being said, RL26 in the Creed gives me almost identical velocity (2954 fps) to my 6.5-284 Norma (2993 fps) with 140 gr bullets

A friend of mine is getting 3200 FPS with H4350 and 101 HH in his 6Creed. Going to tinker with it as that's what I like to do. I'll try a few different things and eventually land on a great load I'm sure.

I really can't believe I'm in this MBG conversation
