25-06 Harvest Thread

I'm a newcomer to the 25-06. Always loved the caliber, just seemed so.... traditional. Researched like heck the terminal performance. And sure enough, very first shot at an animal, dropped him like a ton of bricks.
Anyone else out there have any harvest pics/stories of their 25-06?

It's the most overlooked round out there , in my opinion

Awfully darn tough to be a 25/06, love the round! Easy to work with and incredibly capable!
I usually refer to Ballistic Tips as NBT for what that's worth.

Enough gun and bullet gack, let's talk about the bruin fantastic bear! Montana bruin?

Haha. Thank you. Yeah. Up here in Montana. He was chasing a sow. Did the ole wolf howl to stop him and laid him down. My biggest bear I think. Picture doesn't quite do it justice. His ears are basically on the sides of his head haha. Fun stuff.

Yeah he's a great bear, looks to be 9" or so between the ears probably in the 19.5-20" range give or take.

Figured he was a chaser, May 27th has always been my lucky day for stud boars:)

Well done

(looks like your rifles is one of the 700 Long Range guns, if so how do you like it and how's it shoot?)

Mine was a 28" 1:10" Shilen in .25-06AI. 115 @ 3450fps or 100TTSX @ 3600fps. Laid some deer down with that thing over those years, but not a lot of photos. Always a great LR coyote gun too. Built it specifically for AZ pronghorn about 18 years ago. Still haven't drawn that tag!
These two deer were taken 2 years apart, and 157' apart in the same canyon.

Wow... ha. I'm impressed. Yep. That's the gun. Love it. It's actually my 9 year old sons ha. But dad had to test it out. I had the 22-250 Sendero when I was a first getting started and this is basically its twin. I "bulls eyed" it on the 5th shot ever out of the rifle, at 200 yds. That bear was it's 6th shot. I've put together some loads for this weekend to find what it likes the most. Everything is factory at this point. Super fun to shoot. And can't lie, I love the way it looks :)

Killed 69 black tail bucks in California 2506 100 ballistic tips never lost one

The 25-06 is one I'm looking at getting, I have a 30-06 already, and have had a 243 when I was younger. The only issue I'm having, is finding a 25-06, might have to settle for a 270 for now

I have a Tikka T3X in stainless and a Sig SHR 970. Both are nice shooting guns. Still working on the best load for the Tikka. Certainly sub-moa, but chasing better.

Not sure why you can't find one. Do you mean locally? Gunbroker has 343 of them at this moment. Just depends on your budget and if you have a "must have" favorite brand. Not trying to be rude here, but seems like if you want a 25-06 you can find one on‐line.

Love the 25's. They're simply killing machines when I do my part. Starting at the bottom; 250 Savage, 250AI Savage, 257 Roberts, 25:06, 25:06AI. They've taken everything aimed at from 6' (a blacktail running straight at me through fairly heavy woods) to 600 yards. They've taken blacktails, whitetails, muleys, and a few coyotes. Lethal and a joy to shoot. What more can I ask!
