7-300 or 28 nosler

I like the 28 Nosler case dimensions but I don't like only being able to use Nosler brass. I don't think you will gain anything other than seating depth with the 28 Nosler. If you compare the 30 Nosler to the 300 Winchester mag they are within 2 gr of h2o. After watching this review I think I'd go with the 7-300.

That's one of the best cartridge reviews I've seen.

Same charge, same pressure, same velocity in both rifles.

Brass availability would be the deciding factor for me between the two as well as the enormous availability of factory ammo for he .300win.

Between the 7x.300 and 28 Nosler though I'd still lean towards the 30 Nosler just to avoid the issues that go along with having to feed the wildcat along with the added expense in loading for it and getting one built.

Agreed! I've had excellent luck with Nosler headstamped Nosler magnum cases and their RUM cases, specifically the blem 338 RUM cases I've yet to wear out after 15 loadings. I'm glad I was forced to switch from RP. The Nosler stuff is far superior.

Norma brass will in all likelihood be identical to Nosler without the final prep. ADG and Peterson would also be fine options.
I've yet to have any of my Nosler Rum cases fail or have to be pitched and some are on loadings 5-7 running some pretty stout charges.

My Nosler .300wm brass has been holding up very well too with similar loads and similar results.

I would take that review with a big grain of salt. First, Broughton barrels are the fastest on the market, usually worth 100 fps over any other. So a 28" Broughton on a 300 wm better run 3030fps. Every 30 Nosler I have built runs at 3100 fps with H1000. They have all been 25-26" rock creeks and Kriegers. I have a Broughton 10 twist sitting here, I'll be suprised if I hit pressure with it before 3200 fps in the 30 Nosler. I have a 28" Krieger in a 30-28 nosler, only 30 grains larger case than the 30 Nosler. I ran it to over 3200 fps with a 215 and retumbo before hitting pressure.

I plan to chamber a barrel in 300 wm, run it to pressure, then rechamber it in 30 nosler and do the same. Same barrel, powder, action, brass manufacture, throats on the reamers, ext. That will be a real comparison. I will post it here.

Considering Jeff's reputation there's no reason to take anything he says with a "grain of salt". He's as unbiased as anyone can be when it comes to anything firearms or ammo related.

Nothing to do with Jeff. A comparison needs to be done with as little differences as possible so that you are actually comparing the thing you want to compare. Different barrels, lengths, brass manufacturers, and actions is not a fair comparison. You do not agree? I think he gave an unbiased review, But with the number of differences in the rifles used, it was not and apples to apples. Either way, I'll test it with everything being equal but the chamber and we will have an actual fps number they truly differ. Just how it should be done in my mind.

Having built quite a few of both the 7-300 Win and the 28 Nosler I can tell you there is zero difference in building either, the ONLY difference is the reamer you stick in it.

Which not every smith happens to have laying around and may not want to invest in for a single build resulting in added cost for the building to pay for one or pay for the rental of same.

The 28 Nosler is becoming more and more popular so that's not likely to be a problem.

You're free to do what you will and share it with us. Nothing Broz has to say on the subject of guns, ammo, loading, or anything else needs to be taken with a grain of salt, his credibility is beyond reproach.

Did you read the part that said "nothing to do with Jeff"? or are you just shooting for 10000 posts?

Man, this forum has been infiltrated by disrespectful newbies and snowflakes... Reminds me of those stupid college snowflakes that don't get their way and start calling you a nazi racist bigot because they always got participation trophies growing up, and have no idea what losing is. All they know is "I didn't get my way...WAHHHH! WAHHHH! WAHHHH!" Or "You don't agree with me, so I'm going to go cry in a safe-space with coloring books and puppies!"

People don't know how to disagree anymore without insulting one another. Are there people on here I don't always agree with? Quite frequently! But I don't dislike them, on the contrary, I usually only intellectually compete with those I respect their opinions, because I like the battle of wits, and it's informative to everyone involved or reading along, and entertaining.

Also, post-count doesn't meant crap. I've seen some newbies post up things that showed me skill level was already right up there with others I've conversed with for years. And I've seen some that have been on here for years that still ask (what seem to me to be) basic and newbie questions. Nothing wrong with any of it. Just be happy being you, progress at your own pace, and insulting others gets you nowhere, but on the crap-list of people that nobody wants to help.

For example Ed (Feenix) and Rhian (bigngreen) are both people that I argue with alot, but I have alot of respect for them for everything they bring to the site. Wildrose is one that I often agree with, and have lots of respect for him as well. Agree or disagree, it's important to respect each other and treat them like you would want to be treated. We don't always have to agree, but it's important to remember the internet is only as good of a tool as you make it...And there's no point in getting ****ed over things that are said on the internet just because we have differing opinions.
