300 prc or 28 nosler

28nosler is very close to a 7stw in ballistics. Both of which are pretty overbore and not known for barrel life. If you have a 300rum you don't "need" a 300prc and this is coming from a guy who loves his 300prc.

I'd like to throw a 257 something in to the discussion. 25-06 or 25-06AI or 25 sherman which is pretty much an "improved" ackley improved. Plenty of brass options and doesn't take a pound of powder to make 80-90 rounds.

But if I had to pick between the 28nosler and 300prc for hunting AND target's I'd go 300prc again without question.

Strictly hunting and 1000 yards is your range...338 Lapua or improved. Nothing beats bullet weight in wind considering your using proper LR bullets. Anchoring an animal at 1000 yards isn't tough with smaller cartridges until environmental conditions are unpredictable. Big heavy high bc bullets are more reliable in this scenario. Even much more so that the 250 grain 308 caliber bullets.
