Currently running a intelidropper and just don't trust it, was going to go RCBS and started comparing prices to the FX Route.



Anyone have a good place to buy one of these.

Thinking about buying the scale to start than a trickler later.

Of course, you could always buy some calibration weights to check what you have and save some $$$.

If you've had trouble with your electronic scale drifting get an FX120i. I think all less expensive electronic scales drift. It comes down to the technology used to do the measurement.

The intelidropper has weights with it that I use every time I start a new powder or if it has been a couple of days.

Yeah it's the drift that is annoying and doesn't inspire confidence.
I just started a new rifle load development and not getting ES's and SD's that I like, could just be the particular load.
Could just be that the brass hasn't been through this rifle till now. I've got a couple hundred pcs of brass to get through.
Gonna try a different load, starting with a pressure string tonight.
I'm probably over reacting, but that scale would take some of the guess work out of it.

I am not advocating for you not to buy the FX, but I will say this, you can always verify your loads via a balance beam scale and not worry about electronic scales drifting. I used to do this all the time with my RCBS Chargemaster. Something to think about before dropping that much money on another electronic scale.

Yeah, I don't have a balance beam but I do have another RCBS Electronic scale that I have used to check the Intelidropper and at that time it did seam to measure out the same on both scales.

I recently bought the FX-120I and the Auto Trickler. My RCBS Chargemaster in now on the shelf. There's really nothing wrong with it, except that it's resolution is +-.1 grains. The FX-120I and Auto Trickler resolution is +- .01 grains. It can also be tuned for each different powder. And it's a little faster than the RCBS.
It boils down to whatever reloading tool you can justify.

Just a little input from the peanut gallery:

I have been using an RCBS Chargemaster Supreme for some time now. Sometimes I get loads in the single digits and sometimes I get lousy SDs or an erratic velocity. I have always suspected that I was getting occasional bad charge weights dispensed.

Having to KNOW the answer to whether or not it was the Chargemaster, I bought a FX-120i. I have now weight checked a few hundred dispensed charges of various powder types. The absolute largest discrepancy was only .08 grains off, and that was not common. That is less than 1/10th of a grain in deviation. Sometimes the Chargemaster would through a charge to the exact kernel of powder. Other times it was merely 1 kernel off.

What I have determined is that the Chargemaster dispenses very accurately and that the occasional high SDs were NOT due to an errant powder drop.

Just for clarification - I am only talking about when the Chargemaster actually displays the programed charge. If the Chargemaster display indicated that the charge was over or under, I did not include that in my analysis. Charges that read high or low are easily corrected for.

Frostop, I love my fx120. Awesome setup! Recently upgraded to a v4 AutoTrickler. Which left me with the trickler unit sitting. Actually, I have two AutoTrickler units here. Would certainly let one go cheap if you'd like to get one. I also have a v2 autothrow, that works well with most powders. Needs a little finesse with smaller flake powders though.

Yeah, right now I'm thinking my money may be of better use getting a couple expander mandrels to go along with my bushing dies and see what that gets me as far as more consistent velocity's.
The heat that we've been having lately can't help.

That would certainly depend on your process. Consistency is king! Buy the best components you can afford and refine your process. It will change over the years, be consistent and deliberate. Change only one variable at a time. Test and take notes.
