7mm PRC

I have had people tell me that 7PRC has less recoil than a 7MM Rem.
Now I was told all my academic life that for every action there was a reaction equal in force and opposite in direction!
So how could that be?

Free recoil energy;

7 PRC with 175gr - 25.2 ft. lbs
7 Rem Mag with 163gr - 23.15 ft. lbs

Hodgdon load data with 175gr bullet;
7PRC

7 Rem Mag

The 7PRC will have more recoil. However it is rather obvious the 7 PRC has superior ballistics given the ability to load with more grains of powder, quicker twist rate and ability to handle larger superior BC bullets.

Isn't 50,200 CUP kind of low for the 7mm Rem Mag? You can't realistically compare the two cartridges at different pressure levels. Shoot them both at 60K CUP and the results will likely be identical. You can add the 7WSM to that comparison and it will land in the same velocity range with the other two.

I am simply taking the data from the Hodgdon load tables. That is their listed min/max loads. I don't think there is anything wrong with the 7 Rem Mag as long as its re-barreled with a custom reamer better able to maximizes say 180VLDs and a 1:8 twist or better. But if you are buying/building new why would you not do a 7PRC?

Anyone tried the 160 outfitter series ammo? I've seen some out there in the wild. Actually very surprised...
I've loaded some 160 CX on Hornady brass with very good results. Accurate enough for hunting to extended ranges, but not for winning a Bench Rest competition. Getting 3075 fps out of a proof 26"

This has to be one of the only ways to watch/listen to his videos. Every time I've tried to watch one of his I end up falling asleep or doing something else. He has some interesting things to say, and no doubt he knows a lot, but dang he's boring to listen to. I've often been turned off by his content based on, like others have stated in this thread, his lack of acceptance of improvements to cartridge design.
Randy is unwatchable, when you get through his intolerable pontificious preambles and some such other situations about how he was there for the invention of the 30-03 er 06 and the Mauser 98 action (exaggeration for you literalists) and how he invented the modern magnums and nobody knows what he does (his general attitude) he has yet to impress me with any relevant insights. Mr Philip B Sharpe wrote two books in the 30's and 40's titled "the rifle in America " and "the complete guide to hand loading". My old man had those two books and after reading them I find any info from Randy to be non additive to the knowledge in those old books and they are not full of insufferable blather. You only need me to tell you a few things 1) only use partition bullets 2) Weatherby magnums are the peak of cartridge development 3) just ask Randy he knows, that's about the limit of his insights.

Seems about right. Most reviews I've read indicate the 7 PRC recoil is a little higher than the 7mm Rem Mag, but not as high as a 300 Win Mag.
I like using felt recoil calculators such as https://shooterscalculator.com/recoil-calculator.php
