7mm PRC is here. SAAMI specs out

Ok got to the range this morning with the new 7mm PRC, 24.5 inch 1-8 twist #2 contour 5R Benchmark barrel.
New RCC Brass, Reloder 26, federal 215M primers, 175gr Berger Elite Hunters, COAL 3.337"

First 6 shots 63.0grs for zeroing/cleaning between shots, 2882/2861/2869/2855/error/2848

All 3 shot groups to follow

63.0- 2828/2822/2828 same hole
63.5- 2856/2849/2856 .48"
64.0- 2884/2895/2912 .57"
64.5- 2929/2946/2938 .97"
65.0- 2941/2945/2945 2.0"
65.5- OOPS. 2.0"
66.0-3011/3025/3027 1.75"
66.5- error/3033/3027 1.35"
67.0- 3095/3101/3106 .95" No pressure signs

Overall I thought it was pretty good velocity for a 24.5 inch barrel, it was a pleasure to shoot.

Great report. I never tried RL26 in my LRMs but I would bet the performance would be similar. With H1000 my LRMs will easily match these numbers. So, I would say it's a wash between these number and ones I've seen from my LRMs. Do you have a SAAMI chamber or was there some fine tuning done in the chamber throat leade?

Impressive velocity, I'd like to see how it goes sizing and re-firing those cases 3-5 times at your upper node

Yes just the SAAMI chambered 7mm PRC nothing fancy

I generally see that virgin brass takes a fair bit higher pressures to show signs, as stated it would be interesting to see where you would end up for brass to last 5+ fireings, to get a solid idea of what to realistically expect

Yeh I had a big difference with my 6.5 RPM, I had an amazing crazy accurate load at 65.0grs of R26 with 156gr Berger Elite Hunters with virgin brass, then the 2nd firing I couldn't open the bolt at that charge 😅

Yup, I experienced the same thing with a 6.5x284 and 140 Bergers. What are your hopes for a solid stable load for your build?

No hopes yet just want to explore some more with this cartridge, but if I could get 3100-3150 out of 175 Berger's I'd be pretty happy, but that group will have to tighten up above 67grs for me to be happy, for hunting I'm a big Accubond fan so I'll see what I can get with them.
I also like the looks of the new Hornady CX bullet

I'll have a few more rifles built on this cartridge,
Defiance Rebel/Defiance Anti actions on order
I'm also having my Target rifle rebarreled from 300 PRC to 7mm PRC, looking to shoot the 184gr Berger F-Open bullets
Im a really big PRC cartridge fan.

Will be interesting to see your results. I'm going to guess that's a little optimistic but we will see.

Optimism isn't a bad thing unless the goal is unobtainable. I think that may be the case here. I'd say 3025-3075 is more realistic and that doesn't mean it will be the place accuracy is at. The testing shows accuracy at lower velocities with RL26

The problem is that the cartridge was designed and optimized for just under 3000FPS with the long heavy bullets so as to be with in PRC shooting limits.
