6 5 prc, 270win, 284win

7 Mag: 160-168 at 3100 with Retumbo/215 primers, 26" barrel
175g at 3030-3050 with R#26, cci 250 or Fed 215
180g Berger vld hunting "
150-154g at 3250 with R#25, Win mag primer a must, tiny groups, 3250 fps on 26", 9fps SD
180g Hornady ELDM at 2850 with R22, cci 250. A .796 BC from the 180g ELDM does impress! This
Bullet performs best from 2750-2900...something you have to see to believe!

OP did not mention the std 280, but should be thrown in for consideration. A load in the Nosler manual #4 is real world in my experience with 24" Remington 700's. 160g bullet, IMR 7828, fed 210 a must for tiny groups, velocity is 2930 fps! If you want to throw in a 180g ELDM with R#17 with a fed 215, you are in the realm of 2800 fps with just a smidgeon of powder. Velocity arriving on target is something to remember.

You make a point, might look at it for the 280

6.5PRC is the only choice the OP mentioned I don't currently and haven't ever owned.

270Win, 7-08, 7Rem Mag, in that order for me. All 3 feed so easily from an internal box magazine, you can find factory ammo and components for all 3, and there are mountains of data from decades of reloading all 3.

Even though I'd like a 284 Win, 280 rem/ AI, or 7mm Rem Mag I'm giving 7SAW serious consideration. It's practical for me because I have a good supply of 308 Win brass.

7-08, 7 MM Mag, 284 Winchester. All are better than the .270 once you get past 400 yards or so. Closer in the .270 is good as well.

I like a 270 Win, I own one. Here's the issue if it's considered for long range. It really has a limited selction of long range bullets, mainly the Berger 170. If someone really loves the 270 Win or AI I say go for it as long as you understand the limited selection. For me the practical side goes with the 7mm something because of the greater probablity to get it to shoot.

Agreed- I have a 7mm custom for my known long range needs while packing my 270win for the shorter stuff (500 and shorter) and try to plan my hunts accordingly for long or short range but inevitably, have ended up using each for the opposite need.

6.5PRC, even though I hate all things Hornady. ..
why so? i find they are a very decent company to do buisness with
never had a problem in my dealings with them always curtious professional and straight forward
with me
i thnk a lot of people hate hornady because its the in thing these days

none of the above my 6.5 creed & my 280 ai will do anything the above will do just as fast as far and as accurately as any of the above with a LOT longer barrel life then 2 of the 3

Looks like you favor the 7 mm's, and that's fine, but which ones are the easiest to feed? . My picks would be 270,7mag, flip a coin between the 708 & 284, 6.5 last . Out of the 5 choices I own 3 , but it's your choice,so I'll tag along, make sure to tell us your choice!,Cheers.
he only asked about 3 so where in his post did he mention the 7 mag or the 08 ?
