.308 Decision

HOGWILDFL, I have to agree on the Remington 700 Mil-Spec, 5R. I have one in 308, & love it! They are a bit heavy for a pack around 'hunting' rifle. But, they all seem to be very consistent, & accurate. I believe they come in both 24", & 20", the 20"er being threaded. Good luck with your decision! Idaho-5R
I have the 5R Gen2 in .260 and it's probably the best money I've ever spent on a factory rifle.

This is what a Remington 5R is available of doing. This was a 3 shot group at 200 yards. At 100 yards it is a small ragged hole...every time.

There's something about 44 gr 4064 and 168 amax or SMK !
If a .308 won't shoot that load something is bad wrong. That was my load for my 10BA.

24 shots, 1 hole, 100 yards... Outside-to-outside was 1.594"... Final adjusted measurement was 1.286". Would have been under an inch, but I pulled the last shot (on the right).
