If your like me , when I pay big bucks for a scope I expect quality. A flawed scope like this should never have left the factory . Appears loose inner tube paint/ dust has coated the cross hairs.. I would contact Leupold & request they pay for shipping this scope back for repair. It obviously left the factory this way. Makes you wounder , who made the final visual inspection before this scope was boxed. Leupold makes a grand scope & I have no doubt they will make it 100% good.

Yea I know they'll make it good. I own a quite a few of them. They've always had EXCELLENT customer service. I've had this scope about a year. It was flawless until yesterday. I've seen a lot of optics problems through the years. Never seen this one!

On a Remington 700 in 30-06 my 4x12 Nikon front bell was so large that the rear fixed sight on the rifle made a distortion similar to what is seen in the OP's photo. Using higher rings fixed the problem.

I think he's ok with the barrel showing up in the bottom of the field, it's the lice knits on the reticle that is bothering.
So you think they can just comb those out?

I agree on the reticle, never saw that in a Leupold. Saw it in an old 6X Weaver.

GREATGOBSOFGOOSEPOOP!!
The stadia lines look like they caught a serious case of the Creepin' Crud or the tool etching the lines was dull and/or chattering something fierce while making the cuts.
That or they let it play with frogs for a while before shipping and it got warts? LOL
I'd danged sure be sending that scope back to Leopold for repair or replacement.
I cannot imagine Leopold balking about making it right by you but is curious HTH the scope got past Quality Control in the first place. SMH
