Remington 700 long range 7mm rem mag (update)

For those of you that were following my last thread, I'm here with an update. For those of you who dont know I traded a browning x-bolt 7mm rem mag which shot pretty well for a Remington 700 long range 7mm rem mag. When I get the Remington home, it had a bur in the chamber. Long story short, I had a run around with 2 gun shops and Remington before getting my rifle back 3 weeks later. It was a horror show. I've had it back for a few weeks but hadn't got the chance to shoot it. Well today I took it out with some factory ammo just to break it in using hornady 140 grain American whitetail. I was alittle surprised to say the least. First group I fired wasnt impressive. 1.4 moa. I cleaned the rifle and fired a .995 moa. Not bad it's better. Then it completely suprised me and shot a .249 moa then followed by a .681moa. So far, this rifle shows promise with less than 20 rounds down the pipe and still in break in. It still had the junk x-mark trigger set at 4lbs. The chamber is still scratching my brass in the neck and shoulder area but it's not causing sticky extraction. Seems like she wants to shoot. We'll see how it does when I get some rounds down the pipe and start load development. In case people are wondering, this paper was shot to pieces already with other rifles so my had is covering 6.5 rounds and my other pic is trying to cut them out. Not covering up flyers.
My only question is WHY did you take it back? When I buy new guns or new anything ( but especially a gun) it can't be flawed or gets returned period! I would never settle for a REPAIR. REMINGTON makes guns and should have taken it back NO QUESTIONS ASKED when it was defective. If it still is still flawed... have them replace it! You gave them one more chance than I would have. If they don't want to replace it show them this note.... I'm willing to throw out a challenge here and etransfer you $100.00 towards the purchase of the gun and when you get your money to replace it....cut it up with a chop saw on you tube!

Well it seems to be shooting ok so I'd really hate to hack up a rifle that's showing potential. I'll take the 100 anyway though..... I need a trigger:D

I talked a hunting buddy into that gun in that caliber topped off with a VX6HD 4-24 and a Timney Trigger. Had him fire form a 100 rounds or HSM 168 that were all Norma brass. He sent me the gun and empty brass, I worked up a load with 180VLD and N570. Consistently between .5 and .7 and right at 3065. Topped with a matching Turret from Leupold for his load, hunt elevation and done. Great setup for a modest cost.

Hahaha! Yes, I take back my 20 apologies in your last thread for recommending that rifle to you!!

All you remington haters can shove it! ;)

In all seriousness, I am glad its working out. Hopefully, you can work out those final little kinks to get it shooting to your standard.

I think once in get it broke in and start hand loading for it then its gonna work out just fine. It's going to get threaded at some point for a brake to make it more enjoyable to shoot

Now we need a big fat old smile gif.

A few decades ago, I had a rifle with a burr in the neck/shoulder joint, and I took a front section of an old 3 pcs cleaning rod and attached a bronze brush wrapped in a small amount of 4/0 (0000) steel wool. I oiled the brush/wool combo and attached the rod to my hand drill, and after inserting into the chamber area, I began to slowly spin the combo and pushed/pulled it in and out of the neck area. After about a minute or so, the chamber never gave me another problem and was lightly polished.

Insert eating popcorn gif.
