300 RUM, 30 Nosler, 300 Norma... Which one?

Glad you got it built and followed up. Looks good. There really was not a wrong way to go between norma and rum. I went norma improved for the COAL and lapua brass but that rum sure looks nice and am sure you are going to be very happy with it, I certainly would if it were me. Hope you burn thru a few barrels as it will show how much fun you are having shooting it and a ton of rounds down range.

Have to disagree on the accuracy generalization here. I've had two (300 and 340) that shot incredibly well with factory ammo (both 1/2"). Your other comments re price are fair criticism. Had a 30-378 that shot into 1" regularly. I hate hunting with muzzle breaks, and without the brake, 5 rounds would give me a headache.... Ended up trading off because the extra 200fps over the 300 just wasn't worth the aggravation,

It sounds like a very promising start.

It also sounds as though you are just shooting it and not following any sort of break in procedure. My advice would be to clean the snot out of it before you take it back out, then clean after every third shot for 3 rounds, every 6th for a couple of rounds, then after every twenty for a couple of rounds until it tightens up.

During break in you're knocking all the little rough spots and sharp edges off as well as smoting out the machining marks and you don't want them to fill up with copper and carbon or it will take hundreds of rounds before it ever really gets broken in even if then.

Also the more religious you are about doing the break in right, the less trouble it will be to clean in the future.

Yeah I haven't cleaned it yet. I needed a good cleaning rod to make sure I don't damage the barrel. It should arrive soon. I plan to clean and shoot some after my rod arrives. I have 20 rounds down it so far. I might have to try a few more rounds before my cleaning rod arrives. I don't think I can wait.
 
I did... I use to have these things when I shot Fclass but sold them later on. I'm trying to restock now...
 
I shot two more 3 shot groups at 420 yards today. I'm using Nosler 210 ABLR factory ammo. I'm extremely pleased with the results. If this Barrel keeps getting better with break in, it's really going to be a jewel.

First three shots are black and last three are yellow. Wind was left to right.

i've got a 300 RUM, love it but it does pack a punch when you shoot, i've thought about brakeing it. i use it mainly for hunting
