New Remington 700's

Snuck another fast twist 223 home. For the price and how they feel relative to that price, looks like I'm back to buying factory guns.

Be interesting to see if they eventually expand the cartridge line up.

We in the gun world are so used to company's changing making things worse... it's kinda nice to see things improving. Between the ruger revamp and remarms resurrecting better than they were, I'm buying and enjoying off the shelf factory guns again.
Be really nice if Remington chambered new rifles in the SAUM's with appropriate twist rates.
I bet they'd become one of their top sellers,
Especially if they supported it with Brass.

I'll be interested on how it shoots. Please report back.
Oh they shoot, I picked a new Rem 700 223 1:8. Changes the trigger and set it up with a SWFA 10x. So far it has shot 3/4 MOA with all factory loads I've tried.

I would really like to find a factory wood stock for mine. It's just used for hunting and shooting small groups.
We have a 700 Mountain Rifle DBM with custom Pakmeyer Pad spare stock. It is a SA and we had a 7mm-08 & .243 win in it. Switched over to a B&C Fiber Stock. if interested PM us.

They definitely shoot. This is an 8 shot group from my 30-06. I started with a 3 shot group and it was so tight I added 2 more and it was just wallowing the hole out so I quit after 3 more. This is with the load it prefers.

It wasn't a fluke either. I had to rush the load development process since hunting season was coming up. Just picked a seating depth that gave me enough depth into the neck to hold the bullet and started increasing the powder charge. When I hit the one I'm using I quit. Here's another but I can't remember how many shots are in it. I'll try to refine it some after season closes.

I agree , I have 100 rounds of factory ammo through mine, all sub MOA.

I think the 22-250 is a standard twist rate, not 1-8" like the .223 rem. The 243 win is 1-8" though, at least the new ones are :)
I think the 22-250's produced are just SAAMI spec guns that are designed to run 55gr and below. Not sure why it's left to custom builders to push that boundary with longer heavier and appropriate twist rate.
Regardless, my 22-250 shoots extremely well as is with 55gr. It's just a varmint bracket it fits in well.

They don't have the capacity to make brass anymore since that part of the business is part of Vista. Can't imagine they would resurrect those particular cartridges with as low as they sold back in the day with a third party brass manufacturer.

Would think it's a lot better to dovetail off a hornadys heavy marketing and do PRC based cartridges.

Got this e-mail in response to my SAUM brass inquiry. 12/21/23

"Hey David - Thanks for writing in to Remington.

We're fans of the SAUM cartridges too. I'd encourage you to sign up for emails on the pages linked below, and we'll send you a note when component brass is available. Our factory has been working 24/7 the last several years to make all our products and make sure you can find what you need.

Thanks -
Joel "
