The ones you put in charge don't want you hunting deer either so it doesn't matter. Actually they don't want you owning, much less shooting guns. If you cannot unelect them sue them. That you can do and its how most of what you have has been lost.

Quite a few, Canadian Tundra Wolves have swum the Snake River from, Idaho and ARE NOW, "Visiting" Eastern Oregon and Washington,..

Hunt in Northern WI. Used to get some really nice bucks, especially for big timber country without any agriculture.
Wolves were thick for awhile, and now the deer are very few. Don't see as many wolves around either, as they'd have to carry a lunch bucket. You'll see some deer near the towns and lakes with a lot of cabins, where they're fed and the wolves maybe don't feel comfortable, but once you get out a few miles into bigger country, you don't see much. Real shame. Lots of beautiful country to roam, but not much out there for big game. The DNR lied so many times about overall numbers and the magic minimum threshold that they've lost any modicum of credibility they ever had with me. Last year there was a wolf season and the harvest cap was met and exceeded in a matter of hours. Big city and college town Dems reacted in outrage, claiming that hunters killed off 1/2 to 1/3 of the entire wolf population, ignoring or glossing over the obvious conclusion that the cause for a large and quick harvest is a population that is significantly higher than they'd ever let on.
CO has wolves in the Flat Tops now. Won't be too long before they have the big elk herd that resides there eaten up, too. Too bad. Was crowded with hunters at times, but was still a beautiful place to hunt that offered a legitimate chance for the average guy to go out and have some success on public land.

My hopes for Colorado are the wolves make their way into Rocky Mountain National park right into the heart of Estes Park and show their true identity so all the folks who bought in to the cute fuzzy friendly furry pet they were sold on when they voted for re introduction actually see what wolves are truly capable of. The look on the faces of all those tourists while a wolf pack brings down an elk would be priceless
Tourist will like it, they did in Yellowstone. Newspapers will have experts write articles explaining why having dead elk all over the place is very good for scavengers. Bears, coyotes and birds will thrive. Young wolves will have lots of opportunities learning to kill. The last many times I have gone thru Yellowstone I did not see a elk.
I don't like wolves. But the animals dont react to them like I've seen many claim. In my experience they lay low until the wolves move through and then its back to normal. Just last year had some of my best days elk hunting with a pack in the same drainages in multiple states. Audible and visual confirmation of the pack. They make a kill, move through. It's real quiet for a day or 2 and then back to normal. I like to compare it to when you see a cop. Everyone acts straight and then when the cops are gone it's back to normal. That's been my experiences.
The surviving elk will change their habits.

Not completely true. Wolves cannot eat all of them at once. Beings that they are habitually nomadic the animals wise up to them. They know that wolves exist and they arent necessarily quiet about their existence. Like I said they hunker down and when the wolves move off everything gets back to normal in the places I've hunted. Sometimes it's the same day sometimes it's the next week.
You are correct wolves cannot eat them all at once. I took eight people elk hunting In between the park and Dome Mountain over a six week period when I lived in Bozman. One day while packing out two elk, in a three mile stretch I saw over ten dead elk. When approaching my horse trailer there was four trucks from fish and game. ( they were studying wolves ) I told them about the numbers of dead elk, and it looked like there was only two that were barely eaten. They explained packs teach the young how to kill, and they often kill two to three a day.( migration ) One elk can feed a whole pack if they practice killing three a day .. leftovers feed bears, coyotes etc. I observed different but similar wolve behavior near Ennis Montana. They would chase antelope into snow drifts kill them then than repeat. The wolves would not sink hardly at all the antelope would quickly give up, when up to there bellies in snow. There were several antelope that wolves killed that wolves did not eat.
About 8 years ago I was hunting Moose near Bondurant Wyo. I keeped seeing wolves and hearing them at night. a few days later I ran into the person in charged of the feeding, he told me how many elk they killed with out eating them.
Three years ago I was hunting Coues deer 40 miles from Casa Grandes Mexico. I filmed several wolves all had collars on. When that pack killed caves they left nothing but bones.
You are correct.. nine months of the year they were spread out like the game was spread out.
I have zero experience with Oregon wolves.
