This thread is to start a debate. The present state of affairs in our country have created a opportunity for me. I've been reloading all day. When I got to this one the thoughts flooded back in.
Keep it clean. Keep it based on knowledge and not on hype.

One of my favorite cartridges to shoot and hunt with is the 7SAUM ! Mine is from a Remington 700 short action with a Wyatts mag. Mine pushes a 180 grain Berger Hybrid at 3060 fps from a 26inch Broughton barrel.
Case over all is 2.97. ADG brass and RL26 at 61.5 grains. It is completely mag fed with NO feed or extraction issues. Zero! None! Nill!
It has to be one of the most underrated and misunderstood cartridges in modern times.
Yea Remington missed a giant opportunity with this one!

Give me your inputs.
All of it!
Go!!!!!

I absolutely love my 6.5 saum, it's been the easiest to tune and must accurate rifle I've owned. And it's an ultra light.
When I burn it out I may go to a 7 saum with a 22" barrel to run suppressed.
The only reason I'm thinking about going to the 7 is that it's a close to med range deer and elk rifle (700 yards Max) and I want to shoot heavier bonded bullets or monos.

Ive decided that this will be my next build. Great performance and in a smaller package. Hard to argue with a 180 Berger at over 3k.

I wouldn't expect quite those velocities especially within an accurate node. I think most people are finding them down around 2850-2900, depending on how hard you're willing to push. But you could be one of the Lucky ones!

I keep going back and fourth between the saum and the Sherman short. Probably end up with the saum as it's a bit cheaper with the brass costs and simpler for me since I'm just starting reloading recently. Got a proof CF 26" blank waiting and thinking I'm gonna go with an ARC Nucleus action. Planning in working with both the 180 vld and the 168 as well! Got a few pounds of 26 waiting as well

I helped my brother develop loads for his in a Model 7, it shoots cloverleafs with both 150gr and 160gr bullets, I've nevwr found a load as fast as I did with his rifle. My dad took down several elk and mulies with it, one shot kills.
