25-06ai or 270ai thoughts?

I'm in the process of building a 25-06 AI with a 1-7.5" barrel for the black jacks and Iv'e got some 121 gr Hammers as well so my vote is the 25-06 AI. Especially if you already have the 7 mm SAUM. That seems a little close to the 270 AI. But in the end it comes down to whatever scratches your itch the best.

Looking to build an Ackley Improved rifle. Never had one but want one. Have a long action defiance rebel just sitting and think it would be perfect to build a 25-06ai or 270ai. I won't be shooting any further than 500 yards for these rifles and am looking for thoughts and/or experiences you guys may have. I want to shoot the heavier pills out of these so either the 120's for the .257 or the 150's out of the .270. Your thoughts and opinions are appreciated.
I think either one would be great. I have had 2 25-06 AI's in the past. Shot the barrels out of both of them. Load a 100 Partition in them & kill elk like crazy. Never tried the 270 AI but it is on my bucket list.
Thanks, Kirk

I shot a ton of animals with a 6.5-06 A.I. which is of course right in between the two. That was my incentive to create the first Sherman cartridges. Either the 25 or 270 are good rounds with the 270 getting the nod for elk, etc

Why did you not include the 6.5 for your Ackley. More and better bullet choices than 25 and 270. 25 and 270 are some of the most neglected calibers.

Personally, I'd vote for the 25:06AI since I've had one for several years and several deer. The longest shot was 525 with spectacular results - Nosler Partition. I have a 6.5 Gibbs, but am planning on AI'ing my 260 this winter and working up a good working load in the spring. Needless to say, I love the 257 and 264 calibers. They just work!

Then I would certainly go 25. I've hunted 30 yrs with a 257wby with fantastic results. Your 25-06 ai should be close to 3500 fps with rl26 and a 100gr. That will get it done for sure.

So here's my plan. I'll be going with the 25-06ai and since I am a shooter of all things animate and inanimate I will most likely be close to shooting that barrel out by the time Rich comes out with his 25 Sherman to try! Thank you all for input on everything!
You won't be disappointed. My 25-06AI drives 115 Berger at 3350 FPS out of a 26" Krieger with H1000.

I vote 25-06ai, I absolutely love my 25-06rem and another couple hundred fps would make it that much more to love. I've had great luck with 110-115gr bullets and a nosler partition at those speeds would strike like lightening.

I had a .25-06AI for 11 years. Laser beam flat out to 500. 115 Berger @ 3450, 100 TTSX @ 3600+.
Sure wish there were the 131s back then. I rebarreled it to a .280AI 2 years ago.

Since the 131s have come out, I built a 1:7.5" 25SST for them.

I would do the .25-06AI with a 1:7.5" or 1:8". I am hoping Berger jumps on the .257 heavy bandwagon with a 130 Elite Hunter in the future. The quarter bores are deer and pronghorn magic.

I have a Kimber Montana in 25-06 at the gunsmith being rebarreled to 25-06AI.
A lightweight rifle, shooting an all-copper bullet in the 100gn - 120gn range like a laser beam with minimal recoil - it will be the perfect pronghorn rifle, and it won't be too shabby for mulies and whitetails, either.
