This is a general question and wanting real opinions. A friend is wanting to sell a Ruger Blackhawk 357 Maximum with holster sn 600-01xxx. Any ideas the value of these particular revolvers. It looks to be 95%. Do kick my butt over this I just want some ideas. Thanks Jim

One bit of information on the cartridge. It is known for gas cutting the top strap. If this area is in good shape it should command top dollar.

Here are some links for value:

I even callled Ruger and they couldn't tell me anything about it. Just one more reason for me not to like Ruger products

Check gunbroker, they get them every now and then. The top strap cutting was caused by people trying to hot rod light (125 grain) bullets. The .357 max was built to push heavy for caliber bullets to tip over a 70 pound ram @ 200 meters. Ball type powders accelerate this because of a sand blast effect. This cutting seemed to slow after round count went up iirc. Off the top of my head $1100 to $1200 would seem fair, but they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

Thank you

There's 1 on gunbroker right now they want 1500 for it. Not real good shape ,probably 75% in my humble opinion.
