Will a 7mm-08 recoil be noticeably more than a 25-06 if the rifles are identical, weight and everything? I would be shooting around 120's in the 25-06 and 140's in the
7mm-08. Just comparing the two for a mountain rifle for mule deer and possibly pronghorns. Thanks

I would say they should be pretty close... The 7mm has a heavier bullet, with a little more than 1/2 the powder. The .25-06 has a lighter bullet, but alot more powder. To me, they feel similar...But I'm also not a recoil sensative person.

In this case you have to compare:

1. Bullet weight of each.

2. Seating depth of the bullets.

3. Powder charge

By this the subjective felt recoil should be about the same with both calibres.

Seating depth of bullet is a factor in recoil? Never heard that one before.

Here is what the aforementioned recoil calculator requires:

Bullet weight in grains
Velocity in fps
Powder charge in grains
Weight of firearm pounds
