Introducing the Absolute Hammer

I tried the 123 AHs in my 6.5x47 and my 6.5 Sherman. I started low with Varget and CFE-223 in the 47. I got a heavy bolt lift at 40.1 Varget 3020 FPS. 41.5 CFE-223 no pressure 3055. I'm going to go a little hotter with the CFE-223. 63 gns RL-26 In the Sherman was 3357. Accuracy was amazing 5 different loads .5 moa. Probably going to need a faster powder to get the potential in this case.

I'll be very interested to see your results with the x47 and the 6.5 Sherman. Not sure what powder to run in the Sherman. But I was thinking it would go 3500+ FPS. Mine shoots a 140 Berger over 3300 FPS with N570.

Based upon data we've gotten so far, suggest you look at Superformance, RL 23 and H100V, in that order - if you have them! We've got data for 2 different 6.5-06AIs that should be pretty close to the Sherman. Check the load data table on p. 61

OK all. Just talked to Steve.

He has a new single thread established where all of you can go to look at the most current load data for the Absolute Hammers. It's in the Reloading Forum.

Please continue forwarding your loading data to me on This Forum. I will collect it and put it in the spreadsheet on the Reloading Forum. That should help by keeping the clutter down and keep you from having to page through all of the posts on this Forum.

Thanks; and keep the data coming!

Above is my velocity testing in the yard with R23 in a 6.5 Sherman Short. Above was 74-80 degrees. I took a few loads to the range today to check accuracy. Today was 60. I started with a clean barrel and shot the following at 100 yards in this order.

58.8, 5 shots, 3332 FPS, .511", SD 8.6, ES 19
59, 3 shots, 3358 FPS, .320, SD 4.5, ES 9
59.2, 3 shots, 3352, .248", SD 13.8, ES 28, slight ejector
59.4, 3 shots, 3359, SD 3.3, ES 6, ejector

I'd say the velocity 'node' from single shots fired the other day is quite obviously there. I did see pressure at 59.4 that I did not see the other day.

I'm going to load up a bunch at 59 grains for the SD and lower pressure, verify zero and drop at 600 and go hunting!

All loads R23.

So does the increase in velocity offset the BC when comparing to jacketed lead bullets? Longer range hunting type applications.....does this close the gap on mono vs. lead?

Well Superformance is out for me, I just tested it today and from 80F to 50F I lost 75 fps while my 153 Berger/H1000 loads are almost exactly the same. Going to get into it again tomorrow with Hybrid 100V in the 6.5 PRC with the 109gr and 123gr and the 178's in a .300 win mag.
