Just curious if anyone else uses a ghille suit to hunt. I've really only got 2 productive spots on my property that a ghillie suit has any real practical application. I will say I got spoiled 5 years ago when one of the guys down stairs from the sniper committee suggested trying a ghillie suit with a rifle to kill a 4 year old doe who completely had my number in one of my bow stands, this was only the 3rd time in my life I had ever hunted with a rifle considering it was a bow or nothing, well needless to say that was an awesome experience. I went full blown using an ozonics, brushing in my spot, and my ghillie as well. I've got to say I was a bit skeptical until I watched a male red fox walk only 10-15 from me headed out to the field, at that time I knew I was doing the right things. All brushed in with my ghillie tied in with all the local vegetation I waited, she came out at the same time looking at the climber and trying to wind me, I'm sure in her mind she was like I'm gonna stomp and screech at you again ensuring this spot sucks to hunt. Well a 165 grain .300 WM put a stop to that. That was it from this point on I spend this time to brush in prefabed spots for ground hunting. This year Im not too concerned with scent considering all my shots will the 485, 355, and 515. For the record I will still be using an ozone elimination system. So thats my story, and thats how I got hooked on ground hunting with a ghillie suit. Just my 2 cents if any of you guys decide to try it make sure you get a suit almost too big so you can put some cold weather gear under it.

While elk hunting a few years back I heard something coming through the trees, I turned just in time to see Bigfoot. Oh wait, just a guy in a ghille suit.

My friend was muzzleloader hunting in Iowa this past season in a ghillie suit. He was laying on the ground and a bobcat came up from behind and jumped on his head. Scratched his face up pretty good.

Not here in CO, must wear hunter orange in both muzzy and rifle season....you could do it during bow season if you wanted to though.

Seen a few guys wearing lightweight leafy camo suits for bow season, but full blown ghille suits can be pretty hot and heavy and bow season here on CO can get "hot" during the day.

I can't be still enough? I like my Rhino Blind so I can fidget back in the dark.

I used to wear one sometimes bowhunting when deer would start to walk around looking in trees. Also, coyote hunting. Tried it turkey hunting. But, they hang up on everything you even get near, and man, they are hot.

All Predator Calls sell a suit that works great. You can get it lined or unlined. One piece or two. It is light weight. The material used does not hang up or pick up everything out there. All this and the price is right. I have had great luck with mine hunting turkeys and varmints while sitting on the ground. Go to their web sight and check out the Kill Suit.

They will stalk you turkey hunting. Turkey in distress call is very effective hunting them in places. Foxpro goldfinch in distress is also and in more places.

My 9 yr old (7 at the time) is such a conspiracy theorist and was really getting into the Big Foot marathon on Discovery channel. I slipped on my ghillie suit and eased in to his darkened room. The whimper and scream will forever be etched in my mind and I still laugh every time I think about it, tell someone or catch him looking at a Big Foot show. :)

I have used a Ghilli suite very effectively coyote hunting in the NE where ranges are closer, cover is thick, and hunter orange is not required. Still have to pay close attention to the wind. I have not found it necessary hunting the longer ranges out West where standard camo designs are generally effective.

The only time I've considered a suit is when it is flat land with no cover. Matching my camo pattern to the veg, picking a down wind spot, and hiding in and around bushes or trees to break up my silhouette has worked well for me.

I was hunting turkey with a ghillie suit back in 2011 in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I was huddled in-front of a tree calling in a Jake with a crow call. Unbeknownst to me, behind myself about 50 feet off was a popular biking trail when I heard a man directly behind me say: "Look at that turkey right over there son!". The Jake took off running so I stood up and was about a foot away from this dad and his roughly five year old kid. I thought I was going to have to buy them both new pants.
