Hammer bullets

I'm thinking I want to take the shot quartered away in the crease and try not to punch through the shoulder blade
Some bullets are designed just for that very purpose. Speak with your PH and see what they recommend for bullets. Taking a shot at an animal quartering away from you can present a very iffy situation. Discuss using dangerous game bullets that are designed to punch through bone. I'm hunting for Eland this fall and they can run 1,500-1,800 pounds. I plan on using the Hammer bullets to punch through the shoulder to get to the vitals, I've got complete confidence in the bullet being able to do its job.

I was looking at the vitals and skeletal structure last night. I'm thinking I'll just punch through the shoulder.

Take a look at Hammer bullets, if you reload you're in luck, these bullets are designed for what you're trying to do. THere extremely accurate and made to cut through heavy muscle and bone to get to the vitals. I'm taking these to africa with me this fall and expect the hammers to make easy work of cutting through the shoulders to get to the heart and lungs.

I would recommend the 375 H&H which is the minemun standard in Africa for dangerous game and I'd use the 279 grain dead blow bullet by Hammer. A 181 grain bullet is offly light.

That's cool but....

Entry on the left side, looks like a petal carried through to the other side of the chest cavity.

5,000ft lbs is never on the light side.

I didn't have my phone but the bullet blew apart the top part of the heart with the aorta and all other major blood vessels to it.
