Flattest Shooting Hunting Bullet 257 Weatherby Vanguard 26" pipe

Gosh I'd have to say the 131 BJ bullet for beyond 600 yards. Only problem is, if it's a factory barrel, it's too long and heavy. Needs a 7-8 twist barrel. With the 131 in a 257 Weatherby mag, I'd say 3300-3350 is doable. Given its .330-.340 BC (.650-.670) I'd say it's better than most if not all 140-150 class 6.5 bullets thru a .284 parent case cartridge. Out to 500 or less, the lighter 110 ELDs or 115 VLDs. They'll definitely go further but the trajectory will be much more noticable.

But the op didn't say out to 500 yards. He said 700. At 700 yards the very much higher bc Bibb still has 1200 ft pounds. The Barnes has
839 ft pounds at 700. I gave it the full 3700 fps too.
Wind drift is 39 compared to 27.5. that's a full kill zone difference.

Absolutely agree, and apologies to the OP for drifting. beyond 500 is where you separate the men from the boys. I never trusted myself to shoot big game past 500 so I have always stayed with the lighter if not sturdier bullets.

Bib's website says unavailable until further notice and I'm all for good stuff but $575 for a thousand bullets is a little out of my range

Bergers... not fan for a hunting bullet, played with several in .308, they perform out there so to speak but up close, not to sure. Scared at what the 115 vld would do at a 100 yard shot. I like what the 115 grain ballistic tips do out of my 25-06 but at the 257BEE velocities??
I ran the 115 HVLD in my .25-06AI @ 3450. Shot deer from 120 to 488 with them. Between 6 deer, I think a total of 40 yards was as far as they got cumulatively.

Ya I know, that's kinda why I figured the 131 is the best option. Under 500 the lighter options.

No biggie. I shoot 100gn ttsx in mine when hunting local. I only get to 300 yards at my property. I have been using the 257bee for over 30 yrs and have run all kinds of bullets. BTs and Accubonds mostly. But I like that the Barnes doesn't blood shot half the deer. I've killed over 60 deer with the Bee and only one took any steps after the shot. I shot my deer this yr with a 6.5 saum nd it wasn't as impressive. But he was running after a doe and I didn't make the best shot on him. But he went down. But not like the Bee does it.

I think Randy is too busy making Bench Rest bullets to catch up. I bought all mine in 250 packs. If you need to get 1000 now split some up between friends. I definitely been kicking around the idea of doing an 8 twist and running the 131s. That will stretch it's legs even more.

highly recommend it! Got my first 257 caliber this year and spun up a 7 twist for the 131's and took 2 Deer this year at 550 and 535 and the blackjacks absolutely hammered them

Ya I'm building one now. Won't be the .257 Wby. Doing it on a 284 case. I have lots of 6.5-284 brass from a few 6.5-284s I've built. May as well use what I have. I figure 3200 fps with that cartridge should make that 131 do pretty well. I really like the numbers with that bullet. I'm doing it on a 7.5 twist barrel.
