Best factory ammo to site new 300 WSM?

Not to take a leak in your cheerios but 1/4 MOA from a factory rifle would be the exception, not the norm or something to be expected. Tikka's are great rifles, so definitely not knocking them. However 1/4 MOA, it may do it once in a great while but a true 1/4 moa gun is a gun that will shoot 1/4 moa all day everyday, not once in a blue moon. Shooter factors into this a lot. I don't say this to be harsh but bring to light expectation magagement as well as the number of guys that brag about 1/4 MOA guns because they shot that kind of group once.
Thanks Buster,
It's a goal, and then Tika may not be it. And I am just starting out. I have been pretty fair with the 308. And I know quarter in my way is a lot to ask. But eventually I'll build a gun gun

What he said. 1/4 MOA from something other than a BENCH gun and a large caliber at that would be extremely exceptional. If you do achieve that level of accuracy, baby that barrel and only use it when needed.

Range time produced the Tikka promise of 1 MOA. Hornady Precision Hunter 200 grain

I'm hopeful a hand build round can get to 1/2 MOA. I'd settle for 3/4.

As previously advised 1/4 MOA is not likely with this rifle. Oh darn, I have to get a super sweet gun. LOL

Your shooting is not bad at all for the first load you've tried.
I wonder if anyone is specifying their results while using a mechanical device, like a lead sled or other?

Hey CO,
In the interest of transparency that was with a lead sled. I was trying to take me out of the equation. And that was not my own bullet build, but Hornady precision hunter 200 Grain. The Teaka T3 did perform to 1MOA as guaranteed.

I had that rifle completely disassembled so I could Hydro dip it, in woodland camo, and then rebuilt it. I added a Vortech optic with Vortech rings on a Leupold 20 MOA rail.

Thanks for the info. It seems like the exact way to eliminate a variable. What a beauty, please let us know how your loads develop.

Copper creek ammo make's some great rounds. Some guy's at our club are loading 178 eldx in there 300 wsm. cc has a WSM loaded with 180 accubond, should be a great round. i shoot 140 accubonds in my 6.5 saum.

I bought 3 x 20 Federal power shoks to run in my rifle & to reuse the brass & they were terrible.
Out of 60, 30 wouldn't even chamber, out of the fired cases when I tried to reload them the primers were lose so junked them!

Using Norma for reloading, great stuff!

Id get some of this so you can reuse the brass

That's a great deal, considering here in Aus just 50 Norma cases will set you back $135AU

That's cheaper than virgin brass.

Buy a couple cases.

Morning fellas....

My 300wsm shoots a few very well but, keep in mind I have a 27" 1:9.

Norma brass has been the best I have found, hands down. I have about 400 pieces and majority are on their 8-10th firing. (I anneal).
Had a great work to with IMR4831 and H1000. The 190g and 210g ABLRs shoot insanely well and group well under .5 with IMR4831.
Also, berger 200.20x with H1000 slightly compressed is running 3120fps and one hole groups at 130yds.
Then I also shoot the 230g ATips. Little over 2750fps and are lights out to 2500yds. Also loaded with H1000.

Fed215 primers.

I know that my load doesn't particularly help your application, but, it's what I got.
What make/ model brake do you have on your tikka? I just got a tikka t3 lite and I have decided I want to put a brake on it to tame it down. I've been looking on old threads on here and haven't found too much recent information on brakes or what works well with a tikka t3 300 wsm

Totally understand, and thank you for the info. I'm taking a LR shooting class 4/5/24 and using my 300 WSM.
As I learn more about building a round properly, if I get the bug on LR shooting, will be a precision-built rifle for the task.
EVERYONE on this forum has been very helpful.
