Whats the best 270 win load yall have developed. Im looking to change from nosler to hornady for cost reasons and im wanting to see what yall have came up with. Mine is 51gr of IMR4350 with a 140gr Nosler BT 0.02 off the lands. This is out of a browning a-bolt medallion. Im getting right around .75 at 100 with it.

Been busy lately to find some range time but here's what I got from my last range time in 4/23/2013. I ran out of H4831SC so I put that quest on hold. H4350 is the only powder I can get my hands on and I've never used it before. Anyways, I loaded up some to fireform using Win brass, 150gr NBT, and WLR primer ...

54.0 xMv=3008; SD=18
54.5 xMv=3050; SD=22
55.0 xMv=3090; SD=16
55.5 xMv=3131; SD=14

All are under 1 MOA but below is the best 5-shot group at 100 yards.

I'd look at 54 gr of either 4350 or rl17 with a 130 hdy or sierra if you want. I also use 58 gr rl22 with a 130 in my 270's. 57 gr I4831 sings well in my rifle with the 130 gmx. I 7828 with the 150 hdy sp has been great too, but that bullet is out of production for the time being.

Im using 59.5 grains of IMR7828 in my Tc venture under a 130 partition, usually shoots under 1/2" at 100 yards. Its shooting at about 3050 fps.

I've had great results with my load using a Hornady 140gr SST with 56.0 grains of IMR 4831. I use this load in my Remington 700 .270 Win with a 22" barrel and it is chronographed at just over 3000fps. Shoots well under 1/2 MOA at 100yds and maintains 1/2 MOA out to 700yds. This load is hot but it shoots great and doesn't have any negative pressure signs. I'm using Federal brass and Winchester LR primers. I use to load IMR 4350, but wasn't getting much velocity with it using 140s so switched to 4831. May seem to slow for my short barrel but it is consistent and delivers excellent results so obviously its working haha.

So im prolly gonna end up switching to hornady sst. Either 130 or 140. I havent decided yet. Just for cost effectiveness. If i wanted to get my rounds movin a little quicker what powder would be good for that? I dont have a chrono so i basically load sets and check for signs of over pressure. Then base my load off of data to get an idea of my velocity. Any suggestions yall?

The SSTs are excellent bullets that perform well on game and shoot great! I chose the 140gr because it has a decent BC of .495 so is a comprise between the fast low BC 130gr and the heavy higher BC 150gr SST. If I were you I would go for the 140gr SST. I believe either Midway or Grafs has them in stock. For higher velocity, try IMR 4831 like I suggested, or IMR 4350 which burns a little hotter.

I have had great results with Nosler BT and AB, Hornady SST and BTSP and Berger 140's with IMR 4831. Usually 56.0 grains, but I have done 57.5 with no pressure signs and sub moa accuracy. The Nosler AB's have given me 3097 fps consistantly when using CCI BR-2 primers. Bergers shot .5 moa with 1st attempt with the 56.0 charge seated .o30 off the lands. All loads use Winchester brass.

I just finished up dialing in Berger Classic Hunters 130 gr. and getting a 3 shot 7/8" group at 200 yds.
H4350 with WLR primers.

Time to go back and do some 5 shot groups to se how they do.

This Win pre 64 M70, Bordon rimrock stock, 22" Pac Nor Featherweight taper barrel, Leupold 2x7 with Stoney Point turret, Harris swivel bi pod, sling and ammo all only weigh 8.9 pounds.

To get that rifle to shoot long range I have to get the recoil down.

50 gr IMR4895 130 Nos BT makes 2875 fps.

That seems wimpy, but it kills deer out to 500 yards.
