Best 10mm 1911 frame handgun for hunting?

Love the 10mm. I started my love affair with the Colt delta Gold Cup but it was a piece of crap. Couldnt get it to shoot or feed well at all. 2 or 3 FF per mag. Sent it to a smith and he did better it only FF 1 per mag. My brother got the SW 1006 his is much better. I inherited it unfortunately from him and i cherish it dearly. But i love my Glock 20 and 40. 10's. Ended up selling the G 20 and regret it every day. I will get another one eventually.

You seen a Dan Wesson specialist so It seems perfect and i would love of or the fusion 10. Would be a sweet addition to the family. Best of luck. 10's rock

I had a G20 with 6" barrel that shot great but the grip was just too big.

I got a Sig Tacops in 10mm to match my .45 and it has been great.

At 3k you have some great options. At that price I would be looking at a Dan Wesson long slide.

Whatever you do, if you want to shoot hot loads, get a gun with a ramped barrel for the better case head support.

As much as I like Delta Elites I went with a gun with a ramped barrel because I reload full house 200gr loads for carrying in the woods.
I'm curious about your full house 200gr load. What powder are you using?

i hav
I recently sold my Glock 10mm because it just didn't fit me very well. I want to get another 10mm for whitetail and hogs and put an rmr on it for 75 yards and in hunting here in Texas.

I've done some quick research online, but does anyone have any experience with a 1911 frame 10mm that they like? Here's a few models that I've read about and are considering (don't want to spend $3k+ on a setup - so no Nighthawks or high end Kimbers, Dan Wesson's etc.)

Kimber Custom TL II
Kimber KHX Custom
Springfield TRP Operator
Springfield Ronin
Remington R1 long slide

Thanks for the help!
e 3 armscorp 10,s. 2 hi cap and one regular cap. 2 are longslide as well. i really like them.

I had the doublestack rock island 10mm- 6" longslide pro match ultra. I put a heavier recoil spring and egw firing pin stop and a custom fitted oversize firing pin.
It was an awesome gun that shot super accurate--- but it was supposed to be a chest holster carry backup/hunting pistol and it was just too dang heavy for me ( 3 pounds empty before you add the 17 rounds) so I sold it for a lighter weight gun.
fantastic gun. i have one each in longslide , longslide single stack, standard slide double.

I really like STI 1911 and 2011's
Especially the heavier Tactical full rail models with 10 mm Double Tap ammo. Here are two of mine, the 1911 runs 45 ACP and 40 Super barrels (40 Super 1800 fps with 135 grain Nosler's) The all black 2011 with a Delta point and Steiner laser below is in 10 mm. (Double Tap 10 mm 135 grain Nosler's at 1600 fps) both of which do IPSC steel at 150 yards quite nicely.

Haven't read but a few replies but a Dan Wesson Bruin is the FIRST thing that comes to mind. DWs are awesome...I have a few. You won't be disappointed.
I have a Kimber Rapide in 45 that rocks too.
Both are dead accurate.
Iron sights though.

Can't ever go wrong with a Kimber

In the 1911 world, Kimbers get looked down upon. I can't figure out why, other than some MIM parts. "1911 snobs"(?), I dunno. But mine are very accurate and reliable. Aiming with a Crimson Trace held at about neck level puts them all in 1" at 25'. I can't say my Dan Wessons are more accurate but maybe if you put shoot them from a rest and at farther distances you would see a difference. Sig 1911s are accurate too.

We sold a ton of those kimbers and never had one complaint. Thats more than I can say for the colt, Taurus, Springfield, or cheap import stuff we sold.
I advised my son to buy a kimber for his first 1911 a couple years ago. That gun shoots so good I won't do any custom work on it, lol. Just a basic stainless2 .

Make sure you have a fully supported barrel for hot 10mm loads-- don't want no guppy belly brass

I shoot the 200gr wfn hardcast from mbw.

I use No.9 powder and get 1250fps from my xdm osp, my 6" ria ultra got 1320fps

I have the Rock Island Ultra FS HC 10MM pistol. Great gun but it is heavy. I use a chest rig to carry it as a belt holster would get painful after a while of walking. 17 rounds +1 is very comforting.
