1.) Sierra Blitz Varminter
2.) Hornady GMX (all copper)
3.) Barnes TSX (all copper)
4.) Berger FB Varmint

I take it the all copper bullets would best survive a high-speed launch,
but they also need a higher impact speed to expand, am I correct ?

The varmint-type bullet construction is somewhat the opposite,
they don't like high barrel speed and twist, but they are more
"fragile" in that they don't need to hit a real hard target to blossom,
am I correct ?

Anybody here use any of these particular bullets ? Can you share
your results ?

(I admit, I'm trying to get a handle on the 6mm caliber in general.)

Depends some on what kind of rifle, what 6mm., 243 win., 240 weatherby, 6mm. rem. ect.? Rifle barrel twist? Velocity?

I shoot the 80gr Berger out of my Pro Hunter 243 1:10 twist. H4350 43gr cci250m 3150fps shooting P-dogs,Rock Chucks out to 400yrds some good air time on the P-dogs

Shoot the 87gr V-max out of my 6mm

I have loaded the 80 grain Barnes TSX tiped bullets for my grandsons 243 Win. This bullet is death on deer. You do need high velocity for the bullet to work well.

Thanks Gents, and of course, your questions are perfect and this
is something I'm still mulling over.

This short action 700 that I have is a project. I want to build
something to fit between my 22-250 and my 25-06. I want it to do
something that the 22-250 can't do and something that the 25-06 can't.

I was considering a 22-243W, now I like the 6mmx6.5 Rem mag.
Either choice would get a long 32~~34 inch barrel. I guess I'm
thinking of the 6mm as being just an oversized 22.

So, what I think would be the appropriate game would be smaller
than a deer, maybe coyote/bobcat sized at most, but at as long
a distance as feasible. Also, I like shooting at a cantaloupe set up
on a board. If you can hit the cantaloupe, you're doing OK !

So this is why I'm gravitating towards a smaller bullet with a lot of
powder behind it.
