117 gr Sierra Gameking, 50 grs IMR 4831, CCI-250 in a Rem case has been a great load in all three 25/06's I have owned. The OAL would be specific to your rifle.

I run Nosler 110gr Accubond in Rem brass, WLRM primers and 55gr of RE22.
For bigger deer, like elk, I run Nosler 115gr Partition with same brass/primer and 57.5gr of RE25.

I went out this past Wednesday looking for deer, saw one but it gave me the slip, so the Ruger didn't get a run, it's been a while since I took this rifle out.

Cheers.

I have always been a "If it ain't broke don't try to fix it" kind of guy. I have used a bunch of post around year 2000 make of bullets to take a BUNCH of deer with the 25-06. Been using one for over 30 years. They all from 100 to 120 gr killed deer really well. The top bullet I still use is the 117 Sierra Pro Hunter because my rifle likes it with this load. 49 grs IMR or AA 4350, Rem case, CCI BR primer. Runs 3000 fps out of my 26" Shilen barrel shoot bug holes and on a clam day will shoot 1/3 MOA 300 to 500 yards. Both of these powders will shoot with in the same standard of deviation and to the exact point of aim for me. The standard loads that shoots in most any 25-06 are 52 grs IMR 4350 with cup and core 100 gr bullets. 52 grs H4831 with 115 to 120s. My buddy and I did crop damage control for 15 years and had to take 100 deer a year off a big east NC farm and we shot them with everything from a sharp stick to a 45-70 and NOTHING has a better reputation from our experience of BANG FLOP results than the 25-06 and both of us choose the 117 Sierra. It might not be the most glamorous new kid on the block but let me tell you it is a real killer and don't cost you an arm and a leg. Good luck in your quest.

I agree with previous post, stick with either H4350 or H4831 and results will be fine. I personally prefer Nosler 100 & 115 grain bullets both Ballistic tip & Partition. I have had good results with the 110 Accubond also. My rifles seem to prefer H4350 for 100gr bullets and H4831 for the 115's.

thanks for replys.
i was going to use the 120 sierra and h 4831 but looking at a new siearra reloading manel i got loast in all the powders they showed.

My current hunting load for my savage 110 25-06 is...
Nosler BT 115g
Fed210 primer
IMR4060 @ 42g
OAL 3.235 (putting it .011 off the lands of MY GUN)

I don't have the velocity handy, but I've taken several deer with this load from 75 to 240 yards with good results.

I also like using H4831 powder.

RT, great stuff but one question... isn't that 52.0gn IMR4350 on the 100gn bullet, hot, or is it getting you to CUP max pressure?

I've never loaded for a 25-06, but I can't help but wonder how rl26 would do with a 120 great bullet? Works wonders in 6.5 cm and .270 win with heavier bullets.

I use the Sierra accuracy load out of the Sierra data book. If a rifle won't shoot this accurately, it broken. Longest kill with it is 463 yards. Should do 3100 FPS from a 26" barrel.

Reloader 22 - 50.5 gr.
Sierra 117 Boat tail or Pro Hunter
Federal 210M primer
Winchester or Federal case
COAL - 3.130
