25-06

I'm partial to Accubonds for hunting, so the 110's for the 25-06. Near max load with IMR4350, win primer, Nosler brass. Not home so can't give specifics. What I stay way from it the new fad of killing deer with fragmenting bullets... I want as little lead frags in my meat as possible.

RT, great stuff but one question... isn't that 52.0gn IMR4350 on the 100gn bullet, hot, or is it getting you to CUP max pressure?

52 grs IMR 4350 with 100 gr Sierra was Sierra's suggested accuracy load in their previous loading manual. 53 grs is listed as the max. In my experience with the 25-06 it usually shoots best right at top pressure.

I think, if you test this yourselves, that using ANY of the slower powders, such as RE25, H1000, Retumbo, RE26, Vhit 550/560 or IMR8133 etc, the 25-06 with bullets heavier than 100gr really gets magnum performance.
I get 3226fps with 115gr Partitions in a 24" barrel using RE25 or Retumbo.

Cheers.

I'm not home but in the past shot Nosler ballistic tip 100gr with AA 2700 out of a 700 mountain rifle nice rig that was my wife's. Short barrel why the 2700. Over 3300 if I remember right. Lots of muleys and antelope taken with this combo out to 300yds!

I've been shooting 100 gr TSXs and TTSXs in both of my 25-06s for many years with good results but decided to give Hammer Bullets a try and I'm Extremely Impressed! I shot the first loads today(98 grain Sledge Hammers) and the load I ended with was 53.5 grains of IMR4831(always been the most accurate with both my 25-06s) in Nosler brass with 210M primers, seated .020" off lands for 3181 fps.....I'll bump the powder charge up a little to get the velocity I want but I'm just amazed at the way the rifle shot first time with these bullets.....whoever said Hammer Bullets are easy to work up a load with, wasn't kidding! I'm excited to try these on game, as well as, my other rifles I'll be working up loads for.

I have two rifles in this great cartridge. One with over 3000 rounds down the barrel and I'm chasing the lands pretty well. My load for this one is 58.5 gr IMR7977 pushing a 110 Accubond. Runs right at 3200 and puts 5 inside of .75".
The other one is really close - 58 gr of the same powder and same bullet pushes just a touch over 3200.

I have found that 49 grains of IMR 4350 with anything in the 115 - 120 grain bullet works great in my tang safety Ruger 77 varmit work great. I have also used IMR 7828 and IMR 4831. I don't remember those loads, because the IMR 4350 is so consistent.

I have never shot anything bigger than deer with mine but 100 Gr. Partitions
with N560 at 3300 FPS whacks them good! Mine is an older Browning and
those older rifles tend to have slow barrels? The lighter stuff seems to work better?
