6.5-7mm prc

Some guys are experimenting with the 6.5-7PRC while others are committed to the 7-6.5PRC. This is a great hobby with endless possibilities. Keep the data coming!
Hahaha

What we really need now is to neck that 6.5 prc case up to 30 or 338, some kind of "compact magnum" just waiting to be discovered. Or imagine the practical efficiency of that 300 prc necked up to 375"! Exceeding 375 hh performance out of an 06 length action!!!???? Why hasnt anyone done this yet???🤣🤣🤣🤣

And you know what else!!!?!?!? 🤪. The .323" bore doesn't get nearly enough love. Efficient, flatter than the .338, thumpier than the 308…and you know when forming cases from different brass a belt isn't entirely useless if the shoulder isn't exactly right on the first firing…can you imagine, JUST IMAGINE, the ballistic performance and simplicity of case forming to just neck a 7mm STW up to 8mm??!!! Thing would be a beast, surely it would sell….right? Guys???

😁😁😁

(JUST IMAGINE, the ballistic performance and simplicity of case forming to just neck a 7mm STW up to 8mm??!!! Thing would be a beast, surely it would sell….right? Guys???) Yeah the 8mm rem. mag was a flop,, not because it wasn't a great round just that weird 8mm stigma and a lack of bullets, remington should have went with ,338 cal and a cool name and I would have bought one.

You making 7-6.5PRC in a long action? Is there enough powder in 6.5PRC casings to get the MV you need with long, heavy 7mm bullets (180 class?)?

You can run the 180's around 3k with the right powder and long barrels.

I plan to build a 6.5 x7 prc, I am not in a hurry but, I am going to start gathering parts and pieces. I will take the wait and see what/who makes a great reamer design/no clickers, to to tight/match chamber or neck and die combo to match the reamer. I'm thinking a batlein gain twist 5r barrel 9;1 to 8:1, at least 26" long to take advantage of case capacity. If defiance still offer the 3 position M70 type safety and controlled round feed I would order a ruckus GA today, but now they are in an open class/market with several awesome 700 footprint action makers. The mausingfield action looks interesting to me? and the terminus has interesting stuff, or maybe a simple classic never fail bordon?. Probably not a mcmillan stock this time around unless something pops up in the secondary market before I order one. Trigger tech trigger. BDL bottom metal. This is the last one I am going to build!!! WWELLL maybe not, I might need a light weight handy 6mm cal. truck gun? I don't need help!!! I am not really sick!!!! There has got to be others that do these kind of things?

308-7PRC

My brother and I have been kicking around the idea of just the opposite. 308-7 PRC. Not have the case intrusion of the 300 wsm. Only a couple grains of H2O behind a 300 winny. Run them long in my Tikka. Just about the perfect mid magnum.
That's a very interesting concept for if you didn't want to go full 300PRC and still wanted to take advantage of some longer, heavier .30 cal bullets a Winny would struggle to seat. 👍🏻. Please post details if you do this.

Don't plan on any long barrel life. Depending on your rate of fire, number of rounds in between cleanings as well as how you clean it will all have an effect. I'll say peak barrel life will not make it past 500ish rounds.

Bullet length will effect barrel life as well as double base powders will also shorten barrel life will be other factors to think about.

Later, Frank
Bartlein Barrels
Maybe better with the 400MOD steel? 🤠
