Bullet puller? What do you have?

........I may just be tighten up to much because like YZ-80 there is a lot of cussing involved and come to think of that's why the hammer works so well,,,,,,,,Taking my frustrations out......

Either has a way of teaching newbies a little about the effects of bullet pull.

Kinetic puller ("hammer")
Cotton balls in tip protects bullets.
Electrical tape over hole in side keeps powder from going all over.
It's inexpensive. It works on everything (all rifle and pistol cartridges.)
Whatever people like is fine by me, but for a new guy getting started, it is a great choice.

The RCBS collet type puller is a great addition to a reloader's equipment list. Unless seated to the ogive the collet is very effective and leaves little evidence of crimping. If you have something seated deeply into the case it will not function effectively as it needs a small portion of the straight wall to crimp onto.

I have read about collet/die, inertia/hammer style and the Grip-N-Pull style.

Would love to be educated on this? Would only be used for if working up a load, I run into pressure and want to pull the remaining bullets. Not sure how often this will happen as I probably won't go over listed max change in book (at least till I have been reloading awhile).

Thanks
Steve
I used the hammer type until I had a primer go off, switched to the collet type.

Hammer type I got in a lyman case prep tool set and as soon as it breaks I'm going to get a rcbs collet style puller. The darned thing works though, remember to always wear safety glasses with them.

Started with the collet type which was a little faster than my friend's hammer. Bought a rifle with 450 rounds of hand loaded ammo that had been stored in a hot Az garage since 1989. Got the Grip-n-Pull and hardly a mark on any of the bullets. Probably saved a ton of time as well.

After using all three types, I always end up reaching for my collet puller. I find that with the right collet it does not damage the bullet, upset the powder charge and generally has the most control.

Other people may prefer one of the others but i don't use the hammer any more because there is something unnatural about beating a hammer with a loaded round inside it against a concrete floor.

Just me

Does the collet damage the bullet? Is the only real negative to the collet the cost?

The Grip-n-Pull, does it work well?

I'm between those two right now......hmmm?
