Gun Buy Back

Oh yes - NO military uses Semi-automatic weapons, they ALL select fire Semi-full-burst fire ones, so they are NOT a weapon of war or mass destruction, AND in settling the 3D printer case, the US Government changed their definition to say "Any semi-automatic firearm under .50 caliber is no longer considered military equipment."

I know this is going to start some *Rule 4 Violation* but by my understanding of English any and all my rifles could be considered assault riffles. And after 20 years as a Marine I'm going to classify my hand guns as a assault weapon to (as long as it's less the 100 yards).

Shipping: I do a lot buying and selling on eBay. If it's important, use Priority Mail, not UPS or FedEx. You can insure it for more than the included $50, and no one will ask you if it's a gun part. (They ask if it's fragile or hazardous material.) The P.O. is not perfect, but I've never had an item disappear using Priority Mail, where I have had outright theft with with UPS, FedEx, and Amazon.

Beto likes buy-backs because he turned in his skateboard during a Texas buy-back program.
 
That's what Corruptafornia does. Make one thing illegal after another. Ban mags over 10 rds. Ban folding stocks. Then you had to change you stock so it doesn't have a pistol grip. Bullet buttons instead of mag release button. Now bullet buttons are a no no. It goes on and on with the socialists there. Newsom is a tyranical dictator. Make law abiding citizen criminals if they don't follow the dictators orders.

It gets even more ridiculous. Since these are all alleged to remain paper files until their 20 year death they sit in boxes. You think their filing system is so efficient they have someone out there at the incinerator burning expired records? There are records there well over 20. Ive asked BATFE, and received on numerous occasions, for into on cases dating back 30, 40 and 50 years. The info they retain on firearms is basically forever, at the minimum your lifetime.

A quote from my deceased father, a brilliant mild mannered gentleman who was a WWII vet:
"The gov't can take my weapons, but they'll have to pry them from my dead bloody fingers".
He spoke this to me when Lyndon Johnson proposed severe gun regulations after John Kennedy was assassinated. I hold the same deeply held belief of many citizens that tyranny follows disarming the populace. The louder and more frequent the political rhetoric for disarmament becomes, the larger and more powerful my armory becomes. For the purpose of perspective, I served in the U. S. Army as enlisted Infantry, subsequently as a Warrant Officer helicopter pilot, and am a former Federal Law Enforcement officer.
I take very seriously the Oath I swore on 3 different occasions to protect the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Let us pray that dignity, reason, and respect for our Constitution can be restored to the collective body of our elected governmental officials...local, state and national. God bless The United States of America .
 
You need to remember that their idea of "buy back" id pennies on the dollar. Here in California, several cities have done "buy-backs" where they give you $100 for a hand gun (that's $100 for your S&W model 29 and $200 for your long gun. That's correct, $200 for your very expensive AR 10/15. Basically it's "legalized grand theft by government. Don't bank on the police depts not participating. Just remember whoappoints these senior officers and that they actually "serve at the pleasure" of the elected appointing body. What will slow down the weapons theft by the government is reelecting the President and flushing Congress.
 
I'd caution us to not discount this rhetoric nor the urgency of certain politicians to do something even it its wrong. We should never say "never happen" and sit on the sideline...this is a good time to go offensive with our elected officials and in media that we do not intend to tolerate punishment meted out to law abiding citizens for the actions of others. We will hold those who vote for this legislation to account...
 
I don't usually inject myself into political debates, but I would like to mention a couple of my concerns from reading some of the comments above. First is the notion that somebody (usually a governing body) cannot do something because it is unconstitutional. A judge or a governing body can do just about anything they want. Finding their action to be "unconstitutional" takes years and a lot of money as the issue winds it's way through our judicial system. That is one of the primary purposes of the Supreme Court - to ultimately determine if some law or action that occurred previously violates the constitution. I assure you, you can get thrown under the bus and run over. If said action is ultimately determined to be wrong, you MAY get picked up and dusted off, but you will not hear any apology from the governing body. And you will not receive any apology or compensation unless you go through the exact same judicial system where the ultimate ruling is always a roll of the dice.

Secondly, is the overall belief expressed in some of the comments that such an action (be it a mandatory buy-back, outright ban, or other drastic measure) could never happen in the USA because...(insert your own reason or logic here). Again, rest assured it can happen. Take a look at all the changes in our laws and belief systems that have occurred over the past forty years. How many things that we considered "morally wrong" are now acceptable or tolerated by today's standards based on past court decisions. Hopefully, none of us are naive enough to believe that such things could not happen to us as gun owners. These are scary times. We need to be vocal and vigilant.

The sad part is that the people declaring these rifles as assault weapons know nothing about them.I was told that they are assault weapons and that the prefix AR confirmed that !!!! I had to explain to her what it actually stood for . And these are the people running these programs ???
 
Ron Schaefer has it entirely right. Guys, we'll get nowhere if we just exchange negative comments among ourselves. There's a vast reservoir of voters out there who are content to be completely clueless, then they vote based on who has the most well-funded media campaign. Billionaire Bloomberg counts on this. The only way we can really counter this trend is to rise up and begin convincing our neighbors and co-workers of the truth. We've got to spend less time preaching to the choir and more time talking with those who don't understand, or even those who think they disagree with us. At this point all they can do is call us names, but if we don't, they'll have increasingly onerous legal weapons to use against us.

My experience with newspaper folks is, yes they are ignorant, but they are happy in their ignorance. They don't like facts interfering with their theories.

All Government is Corrupt, No matter if it's Municipal or Federal. Local Court systems flooded with "Revenuer" Cases designed with one thing in mind = Profit, Rights be damned. This same mentality fuels Congress where they have become use to enormous wealth at Their disposal. This Corruption will not go willingly. Now Globalists are taking action - Winner Take All, and the United States is on the Menu. Guns must go 1st.
