I've been really looking for a new gun to do some midweight hunting and found myself thining about upgrading my bow instead.. anyone else ever do an about face or get that wild hair? Dang you Elite Archery!!
Hmmmmm... I'd say flowers are for Hippies, bows are for hunters, and rifles are for shooters. I'd say I'm a shooter right now, but I'd like to be a hunter the longest shot I've ever made with my rifle is 142yds. With my rifle and me shooting, there is close to a 100% chance that pig will drop dead in about 2yds. In the conditions I hunt in I think I actually want it to be a LITTLE more challenging then that.
Although, my 100% DRT percentage is pretty nice...
Ya know, I started bow hunting with a fiberglass semi recurve Bear bow about 40 years ago. Maybe you were born then? When I was a 10 year old kid I was making my own bows and arrows out of ash and maple saplings. I know all about challenges. I have stalked within spitting distance of mule deer. Been in the middle of a herd of antelope with the shadow of the herd buck on my body, bow in hand. I doubt you or many other peolple will ever be able to say that. I can also guarantee you, that in some country and circumstances, you will never get within a half mile of a buck antelope that knows it's being hunted.
So please don't give us the shooter/hunter crap Many of us in this Long Range Hunting forum are avid skilled bow hunters. That said, this particular sub forum is for long range hunting... not bow hunting. There is a sub forum for bow hunting so I would suggest that you should talk bow hunting there and decline from making disparaging remarks about the skill set and challenges it requires to make cold bore shots in various environmental at extreme distances.
"I usta could" sounds like someone wants to play moderator.I dont care what you use killing something with a bow is always more challenging than a LR rifle kill. Most switch to LR because they dont want to stalk, they want to sit and shoot.
