We had a Post on this years ago.
We have a 11K Gen, Have a storage of GAS in 55 gal plastic drums that is mixed 100 oct Ave gas mixed with 89 oct Non Ethanoyl and Stybil = 94.5 oct.
Lasts several years and we change out every two.
Total electric home with a Well for water and have a reservoir 1/2 mile from out home. Have several K acres of private land around our home and herds of deer, turkey. We also have a stock pile of Freeze Dried Foods to last several years.
Government would colipase. Every Person for Themselves.
If it ever came to this Humanity would be lost. All the Cities would run out of food and then tribes/gangs would raid the suburbs and then into the country. That is when the neighborhood group would get involved for self-preservation.
Really would not mean much unless you lived in WY or MT in the wilderness.
Savages would try to take away everything. only hope is a lot of guns and cartridges!

I just bought my solar well pump and system the other day, and a back up system just in case with 4 large storage tanks and filtration system

And then you have the federal government trying to shut down Amish co-op in South Eastern Pennsylvania because they produce organic food source that the government cannot control says a lot

This is a good discussion. I've been on this prepper kick in the past and believe it has merits. Precious metals, ammo, food supply, antibiotics, etc. The question is, how long can you actually hold out? Sure, you can buy yourself some time but ultimately, I think we'll be hosed if the Poo-Poo really hits the fan. Just a matter of time. This depends upon a variety of factors, for sure. Still doesn't hurt to be prepared and I'm down with that. Ultimately, God is in control. God, Family, Country. Prepare to the extent it's reasonable for you and hope for the best.

I am afraid that no mater how much "Prepping" that you do it will only prolong the time you have. Eventually you will run out of supplies and then where will you be if it was a REAL TOTAL COLLAPSE OF THE SYSTEM. If it was a short term like from a natural disaster you could go weeks even a few months if you Prepped enough. If it was an event that shut down the worlds power grids -forget it! Nuclear War !! Even if you had the basic supplies to survive (bullets, traps, seeds, for a garden, knowledge) you would have to live out the hoards of gangs and the living Dead roaming the planet.
Governments would have their "Chariot and ARK" Programs in place for the wealthy & government officials to start back up the reproduction process of humanity. They would start back years after the collapse with genetics, frozen embryos, and deep hibernation of mental giants to bring back society. It is said that Joe Brandon, Mala Harris, Nancy Pelo icy, Mitch McConnel already had their brains put into deep freeze and there are just Surrogates acting in their place now.
So for all you that are interested, you are basically SOL if something big goes down.

They have been banking non-gmo seeds for years now just for that purpose
They have been planning this for decades now now about to put it into total effect

Being able to get fuel for chainsaw, four Wheeler, generator, etc. Will be the key. If you're not stocked up on fuel, your out of options. Hand tools,saws and axes. Ability to get fire wood. Anyone with medical condition that requires monthly meds to keep living. ????? One thing most people don't think about is salt. You will need a great deal of it.

Small animals will still be around, trapping can help provide protein. A secluded pond could really be beneficial as a primary protein source, and relatively easy to protect.

I got my plan down. I am going to the underground Pentagon across the road from my front yard. They will either kill me or let me in. Either way No Worries. lol

Liveaboard sailboat, fishing gear, small wind turbine and solar. Mask, snorkel, speargun/polespear. A .22, a hunting rifle, and seeds. Hole up in a secluded island bay near water. Live like royalty.
Mostly landlubbers would be just out trying to survive, just can't envision shooting anybody like that. Obviously some blue state gangbangers would be the exception.

I agree. If a guy starves to death in Wyoming, it's because he is a vegan. Sort of like some of my Irish ancestors that starved during the potato famine. They were on an island surrounded by fish.

I grew up on a small ranch, we had a huge garden, and could, I suppose, have been self-sufficient except for flour, cornmeal, sugar and salt. Never bought veggies or potatoes. Longer growing season than MT though.

There's a good book by Joel Skousen called "Strategic Reloaction" that identifies the best places in the country to be when SHTF. His father wrote "That Naked Communist" that I read years ago about the history of Communist operatives in this country. They have been hard at work for a very long time. It outlines the the incremental and strategic decay of our society and it's startling how this garbage has been going on under our noses for generations. I really started getting into this stuff about 15 years ago. Wish I would have woken up sooner. Now, I fear for my soon to be college-aged kids. I think my son gets it. My little girl, not so much yet but I think that the Gen-X'ers are going to be much more conservative on a whole than the Millenials. No offense to some of you who fall in the later age bracket. Some of them are waking up too, but the "Time-Out" generation is now in our state legislatures and forming public policy. We are seeing the results. I live in MD but I am rural. My county was relatively conservative for years but this has significantly eroded due to Balt/DC residents fleeing Montgomery and PG county, where they've crapped in their own nests and are bringing their wokeism with them. It's depressing.

We salted our meat and hung it in a netting bag in an old out building.It kept for a long time!Without salt we would have had to live on our garden only.I have not seen 10 pound bags of salt in many years.

We have several 25 lb. bags (about 100 lbs.) in the basement. Plus, about 200 lbs. sugar, about 200 lbs rice (yes, I'm a relocated "coona$$), lots of beans, ect., ect.

Oh, some Honeybees to supplement the sugar, and a source for wax which is handy for many things! memtb
